Late last week my granddaughters, Rachel (6) and Lauren (nearly 4) shared cookies with Santa.
Of course, this is always a BIG event each year.
Two year ago, Lauren wanted nothing to do with Santa. Last year when asked what she wanted, she had a breathless, excited answer: “PRESENTS!”
Lauren is MUCH more mature this year. She’d thought it all out and excitedly told Santa exactly what she wanted. Not many items, but quite detailed and specific. She was quite eager to share her list with her parents.
After Lauren, Rachel climbed into Santa’s lap and they began whispering. When through, She climbed back down with a huge smile.
When dad asked her what she’d asked for, Rachel proclaimed: “It’s a SECRET!”
It’s nearly a week since Rachel talked with Santa. Rachel ain’t budging. When asked, all she’ll say is: “I’m NOT telling. It’s a SECRET!”
Mom and dad are in a bit of a pickle here. So, it’s time to call in the BIG GUN… grandpa. I’ll see if I can squeeze it out of her.
If that doesn’t work, it’s time for the REALLY BIG GUN! Grandma!!
Ahhhh, the joy of the youngsters this time of year…
Merry Christmas!

UPDATE:
Here’s the latest update from my son:
“Well, she already shot down one set of grandparents, her teacher, her dance teacher, our waitress tonight, 3 sets of her friends parents, an aunt and uncle and 2 neighbors.
No idea where she gets that stubborn gene, must be maternal.”
This is going to take some serious strategizing!
MERRY CHRISTMAS,
Art
