Winter Bible Verses

Winter is a season to be enjoyed just as any other in life. The Bible has much to say about winter time. What follows are some lovely verses about this time of year. Though the world may seem bleak and gray outside, we always have the love of Jesus to warm our hearts and homes! Have a blessed day everyone!

~Winter Bible Verses~

“As long as the earth endures, seedtime and harvest, cold and heat, summer and winter, day and night will never cease.” ~Genesis 18:22

“It was You who set all the boundaries of the earth; You made both summer and winter.” ~Psalm 74:17

“He says to the snow, ‘Fall on the earth,’ and to the rain shower, ‘Be a mighty downpour.’” ~Job 37:6

“Praise the Lord, O Jerusalem! Praise your God, O Zion!… He gives snow like wool; He scatters the frost like ashes. He casts forth His ice as fragments, Who can stand before His cold? He sends forth His word and melts them. He causes His wind to blow and the waters to flow.” ~Psalm 147:12-18

“From whose womb has come the ice? And the frost of heaven, who has given it birth?” ~Job 38:29

“For as the rain and the snow come down from heaven, And do not return there without watering the earth And making it bear and sprout, And furnishing seed to the sower and bread to the eater; So will My word be which goes forth from My mouth; It will not return to Me empty, Without accomplishing what I desire. And without succeeding in the matter for which I sent it. For you will go out with joy and be led forth with peace; The mountains and the hills will break forth into shouts of joy before you, And all the trees of the field will clap their hands.” ~Isaiah 55:10-12

“Out of the south comes the storm, And out of the north the cold. From the breath of God ice is made, And the expanse of the waters is frozen.” ~Job 37:9-10

Job 37:9-10 is so well placed in this post. Thank you! I had not ever really focused on that passage. It truly does describe the season of winter as being part of God’s plan and a manifestation of his Power. for which His people say: “Thanks Be To God.”

  2. Most people I know don’t like the cold of winter or the snow; I am just the opposite. I don’t like the heat of summer. I love winter and snow. I love watching the winter sun come up over the hill and shine on the frozen lake beneath. I love to watch the sparkle of the snow as the sun hits it just right. I love to stand outside on a cold winter’s night and look at the stars, praising God for His creations. To me winter is the most beautiful season. Thanks for a great post.

  3. I wonder what I’ll think of four years of Pennsylvania’s snowy winters! May the Lord help this Southern California girl adjust once we move! :)

Lucky you! I live in the Frozen Tundra…
As much as I dislike winter, it does have it’s moments of beauty. Some of the photos I have taken of the sunset over the snow are beautiful, the paintbrush of Almighty God at work. :)

I was in London on work assignment in November once. It was no fun at all. Dreary. Man’s creations no fun. God’s creations beautiful.
