Plan B: In Case Things Don’t Work

Right now, at this very minute, let’s just get straight to the point. What if our plans fail?

What if you don’t get the success for your studies or work? What if the next business deal will decline or chaos in the family will suddenly happen? What if the ones you’ve loved and trusted will break your heart? Or let’s look at another possibility, what if all you possess now will vanish one day? Is your Plan B ready?

You see, plans do work out. But what if they don’t? As humans, it’s not normal for us to stay on one option. Oftentimes, we have a lot of different cards – a detour, a reserved back-up for our lives. But do you know that God doesn’t have one? When He crafted His plans for us, there was no Plan B. He weaved every event carefully long before we reach  this stage and He exactly knew those possibilities that give us worries most of the time(Jeremiah 29:11). Since we are the main character of His plan, He gave us freewill to choose on not more than two options – His plan or Our plan. Your guess is right, FIRST, we often choose our plan. How would we ever give up our fascinating imagination of the future? It’s definitely hard to risk on His plan without knowing the results, right? But life has its playful turns and we never realized that those results were already given from the start.

The results simply put:

Obedience = Blessings or Disobedience = Curse.

His Plan = We’re secured or Our Plan = We’re in danger.

It takes time before we realize that we should have chosen to be in His plan. Ironically, this happens not only one time in our lives. The next time we are going to make an option, we crush out His plan and choose our own again (Proverbs 16:9 A man’s heart deviseth his way: but the LORD directeth his steps). The cycle repeats itself because we overlooked on the results of following His plan. The reason God has no Plan B for our lives is this: His plans never go wrong (Psalm 18:30 As for God, his way is perfect). It’s just us who often take the wrong road away from His. That’s why He told us to, ‘’Abide in Him’’ (John 15:1 to 8). The moment we feel that He’s not with us, it’s not Him who moved away but US.

So when you feel you’re away from Him, it’s time for a 360-degree shift. Choose His plan for your life. With Him, it’s guaranteed that things will work according to His perfect will and we’re assured that our Plan B is not needed.

Won’t you take that shift today? :)

”There’s no need to fear. He has promised to be near. And He will guide you all along the way. And He will give to you the strength to do what you must do so put your life into the Master’s hand. Put your life into His Master Plan”

- from the song, Put Your Life Into The Master’s Hand

  1. Thank you, Joyce. I admit I’ve had to go to my plan B more times than I wanted. Thank God He allows us a plan B. You’re a great writer.

  2. It is an absolute God thing that I would wind up on this site, on this post, the very same day it was posted. That you would hit on the Plan B and the same verse! I went to write on my Facebook status a few minutes ago “When God is your Plan A, you don’t need a Plan B — Jeremiah 29:11″ because my life right now has come to that. I was curious if anyone had said that before and so I searched it as a quote and wound up here.

I’m preparing to graduate with my Bachelor’s degree in May and I believe that I am following God’s calling in pursuing my Masters at Nazarene Theological Seminary. The more people that find out what I believe God is calling me to do, they second-guess me, they ask me about a Plan B, what’s my back-up plan, they want to know what I’m going to do if it doesn’t work out, they encourage me to think about my other options and possibly even think lowly of me because I do not have any other leadings or plans. Some Christian friends and church family really do understand but some don’t and a lot of other people in my life simply don’t. They don’t understand when I tell them that I don’t know exactly what God is caling me to, that He only gives me enough light for the step I’m on, and I’m following Him in faith.

I have felt God pulling me in this direction for the past couple of years, He has been preparing me for the next chapter, and I’m facing some opposition right now. Push is finally coming to shove and I’m leaning hard on God, I know that it is completely impossible for me to do this on my own. That only He can make this work out. All of me and my life and my future is in His hands, there’s no place I’d rather be. I’m ready for an adventure, a wild ride. I know in my heart that this is where I’m supposed to be at this point in time and I am not afraid to tell people that I feel like this is God’s calling on my life right now and that I do not have a back-up plan.

I am committed to the cause I believe Christ has for me. I know that there’s always a chance that God brings me this far to tell me no, He told Abraham to sacrifice his only son, Isaac, after all that time, and this is a huge sacrifice for me, but I am willing, my whole heart is invested in this and I am in constant prayer that if this isn’t right that He’s show me the right way, constantly seeking, and I am being obedient to Him and that is really all I can do. I love God and I just wanted to share my story with you, because it’s completely phenomenal that I would find your post the day I am going through this exact thing and on the day you wrote it. Praise God! God Bless You!!

I am not Joyce who is the writer of this blog. However, I cannot help but share that perfect love casts out fear. If you love God with all your heart there is no fear that He loves you and has a good plan for you whatever and wherever He takes you. He will be there for and with you all the time and it will be for your good. Praise His Holy Name.

      • Yes Ptl2010!!! That exact phrase has been something that God has been impressing upon my heart a lot lately. He is constantly teaching me new things but continually reminding me that: perfect love casts out all fear. I cannot fear something that I choose to love. I am in love with God, I am in love with His plan for my life, I choose not to be afraid of what He has for me, I embrace it, I adore it, I love it, I’m excited!!! Sometimes being human almost gets in the way but the truth is greater than my weaknesses. God is with me and I am so thankful! He does go with me and He will go with me, He is guiding me to do things greater than I could ever dream. I feel so blessed to have been called to do His work, whatever it is, called to be His hands and feet; that He would want me, with all of my imperfections, to use me, it’s just beautiful. Peace and love to you!

    • Thank you for sharing your story! :) I can’t believe the two of us coincides in the same dilemma. You and me for a schooling to Master’s degree. That’s exactly what I went through when I decided to quit on my job which hinders me from serving Him. I always believe that when we pray for our desires to God, He introduces us to very same doors (in many different forms) – whether a new friend with the same goal, a new inspiration, new encouragement, even new posts. God meets His children on every crossroad, to let us realize that as long as we desire to love Him more and more, it is never a wrong decision or something we can regret later. It is always the best path to take, a path that leads to Him each day, each moment of our lives. Sorry for my late reply and thanks so much to ptl2010 for joining you here. God bless! :)

Great post Joyce! Plan B = God as copilot. God’s plan = we walk by faith.

“life has its playful turns and we never realized that those results were already given from the start.” Thanks Be to God that salvation does not require us to KNOW, but to BELIEVE! God is at the controls; let us enjoy the ride without looking out the windows in attempts to back-seat navigate!

  6. Wonderful Joyce! Praise God that He is longsuffering and full of mercy.
