If a zebra was in a field with a number of horses,
could you pick out the zebra?
Of course you could.
A zebra would stand out from the rest because of its unique markings.
If an ALBINO zebra was in with a number of horses,
could you pick out the zebra?
I doubt it.
Why not?
An albino zebra looks exactly like a white horse.
An albino zebra IS a zebra but it does not LOOK like a zebra.
It looks like a white horse.
A Christian’s life SHOULD stand out as being DIFFERENT.
We should stand out like ZEBRAS among HORSES.
When our lives are INDISTINGUISHABLE from non-Christians,
we are like ALBINO ZEBRAS – we are NOT AS WE APPEAR.
Can people we meet and associate with SEE a difference in us?
Can they see a POSITIVE difference –
one which makes them “want what we have”?
Matthew 5:14
You are the light of the world
Matthew 5:16
Let your light so shine before men
that they may see your good works
and glorify your Father who is in heaven
Lord, as we mingle with people who do not know you, may Your light shine from us in such a way that people will SEE a difference; will see that YOU make a difference: a difference to be desired.

That’s a great analogy packed full of truth, good friend! It reminds me of the statement, ‘there is something wrong when our lives make sense to unbelievers.’ May we be strengthened to be the salt and light! God bless.
Thanks MT. We SHOULD be different and there is something wrong when we are not. We should be so different that people ask us why.
Lord, may Your light shine from us today – and every day.
I canonly echo Arts comment.. If we are serving Him, how can we not stand out! .
I agree. *IF* we follow Him we WILL stand out, but sadly there are so many Christians who merge in, undistinguishable from the world. I pray I never fall into that category – not even for a moment!
If we follow Jesus commands to love one another and to spread the Good News, can we help but stand out?
Great analogy and scriptural reference.
Shalom,
Art
We are lights shining in the world of darkness. May we all faithfully shine, bringing glory to our Redeemer.
I love the analogy meetingintheair. Thank you for sharing. I am a zebra with the Lord’s help and pray I , you and many more too, remain as “zebras” to the end, especialy as the evil days draw nigh.
We need to be 24/7 lights in the world which seems to be getting darker and darker. We are one day closer and we need to USE the time we have left. May we all be faithful in our witness.
