The Polytechnic Science Museum in London was one of F B Meyer’s favourite places to visit when he was a boy.
The exhibit which gained his utmost fascination was a diving bell.
The diving bell had no bottom.
Seats were attached to the rim at its base and people sat in the bell with no special breathing equipment.
When the diving bell was lowered into the water,
NO WATER
entered the bell,
even though the occupants
could easily touch the water if they so wished.
WHY DIDN’T THE BELL FILL WITH WATER?
Because air was pumped into the bell from above.
The water was round about and underneath the occupants,
and would have rushed up and destroyed them
if there had been a vacuum – but that vacuum
was filled with the air pumped in from above.
So the occupants remained dry and safe.
When the Lord Jesus Christ is given CONTROL of a life,
it is like that diving bell.
Romans 12:2 tells us
“Do not be conformed to this world”
or as modern translations put it:
“Do not let the world squeeze you into its mould”
We are IN the world but we are not OF the world.
[John 15:19]
The world is underneath and around us,
but although it would surge up and destroy us,
IT IS KEPT OUT and WE ARE KEPT SAFE
by the life of the indwelling Holy Spirit of God.
It is necessary to remember
that just as the safety of the occupants
depended on the air being pumped into the diving bell,
so our victory over satan and his forces
depends on the power of the Holy Spirit within us.
HE has ALL power and we have ALL HIS power at our disposal,
but it is up to us to put on the whole armour of God
and to AVAIL OURSELVES of that power.
When we depend on HIM we have the victory.
And we are ‘more than conquerors’ Romans 8:37
James 4:7
Submit to God. Resist the devil and he will flee from you
A few quotes from Mr Anon:
# When GOD controls the INNER man, the WORLD cannot control the OUTER man.
# Attachment to Christ is the only secret of detachment from the world.
# Anything that comes BETWEEN me and my God IS my god.
# Anything that takes God’s place is OUT of place.
# Where Christ does not rule – SIN DOES!

The analogy of the air they breathed in the bell and the Holy Spirit fits. He is the breath of God and keeps us alive. Thank God for his Holy Spirit living inside of us!
Amen! We are completely safe because He is in control and He wants only the very best for His children.
