Where does the believer’s desire to “stop” sinning come from?

The new desire to stop sinning can only come from the Holy Spirit. The Holy Spirit gives the believer in Christ a new desire to “cease from sin”. An unbeliever is without this desire to quit sin because the sin nature controls a person without Christ. In the new birth a new nature and make-up are given to the believer in Christ. Believer’s in Christ experience the power of God’s Grace to cease from sin. Why? Because God’s Grace is what keeps the Holy Spirit present in the believer’s heart and everyday life.

The God given desire to “do right” is the righteousness of God imputed to the heart of a believer in Christ. A believer’s desires are changed and conscious to the Holy Spirit’s presence. A believer’s conduct is changed. A believer’s make-up is changed. A believer in Christ doesn’t desire future sins because he knows sin grieves the Holy Spirit. A believer in Christ has a clean heart. A believer in Christ has a holy heart with no desire to go back to the unholy style of living. That’s why Paul made the profound statement in Romans 6…

“What fruit do we have in those things whereof we are now ashamed?”

There is victory over sin when Jesus has got all of you. Jesus is the only way man can experience this victory. Sin does not control the believer in Christ…Jesus does. Jesus gives the believer the desire to be true to Him. It’s called walking in the light. Children of light are delivered from the power of darkness. Children of light are believers in Christ who have the desire to cease from sin, power to do right, and the ability to walk in the light.

Not to be confused or complicated! When the Holy Spirit comes in…sin goes out! When the Holy Spirit comes in so does the new desire to cease from sin! Given from above. A new desire! A new and better way than the old. The holy desire. Right thinking! The power of God that keeps the believer in Christ and gives the new desire to stop sinning!

Since 1988 I’ve been writing and doing service for the Lord. It all began after a personal walk with the Lord began in 1987. The personal walk with the Lord turned into extensive Bible studies which later evolved into blogging in early 2000. At present I write, author, and publish at several different sites on the Internet. My Blogs contain a vast library of Theological writings, teaching videos, and preaching audios that currently go around the globe for the cause of Christ. I write at Christian Blessings on Wordpress, Holy Hubert Lindsey Group on Facebook, Churches on Trial at Google, publish You Tube videos, record sermons at sermon.net/holy, etc. I also pastor a Church called the Upper Room in Williamsburg, Ohio . My secular Blog called Southwestern Ohio Fishing on Wordpress is where I write about experiences with my son Chad where we together enjoy Mother Nature’s beauty mixed with Father God’s creation. At Southwestern Ohio Fishing Blog I also publish favorite recipes for those who enjoy eating and cooking as much as this writer does. Thanks for sharing your time and life with this writer at the Blogs. Here's more access to my ministry and fishing Blog if you'd care to check them out further. We were in bondage by sin, but we have wonderful liberty from that bondage through Jesu Christ who set us free! Whom the Son has set free is free indeed. Praise the Lord.
