SOLD! - Big Ben, the Eiffel Tower, the Statue of Liberty and Nelson’s statue in Trafalgar Square – all sold!
A Scotsman named Arthur Ferguson, using his amazing sales ability in the 1920s sold all those national icons. By the time the law caught up with Ferguson and he was sent to prison, he had not only sold those landmarks but he had also taken $10,000 as a down payment on Buckingham Palace!
We marvel at the gullibility of some people. In a way we can admire the great talent of Arthur Ferguson although we certainly can’t condone the way he used it.
Q. What was wrong with Ferguson’s transactions?
A. He was claiming to BE WHAT HE WASN’T and he was dealing in THINGS HE NEVER POSSESSED.
HOW DOES THIS RELATE TO CHRISTIANITY?
While many people call themselves Christian,
they do not know Christ, do not follow Him
and do not have a relationship with Him.
THEY MAKE A FALSE CLAIM.
They claim to be “Christian”
when in fact they are following their own brand of belief.
They have created a god of their own choosing
with a set of standards of their own choosing.
THEY, LIKE FERGUSON, DEAL IN THINGS THEY DON’T POSSESS.
Ferguson CLAIMED to have the right to sell national landmarks.
Anyone can CLAIM to have faith, but the test is not in WORDS.
THE TEST IS IN THE LIFE – THE CHANGED LIFE -
THE LIFE OF CHRIST LIVING IN AND THROUGH THE BELIEVER
2 Cor 5:17
If anyone is in Christ he is a new creation.
Old things have passed away.
All things have become new.
THEY, LIKE FERGUSON, CLAIM TO BE SOMETHING THEY ARE NOT
Jesus said:
“I am the Way, the Truth and the Life.
No one comes to the Father, except by Me”
John 14:6
“By their fruits you shall know them”
Matthew 7:20
“The tree is known by its fruit”
Matthew 12:33
James said:
“I will show you my faith by my works”
James 2:18
ONE DAY, just as Ferguson was called to account, those who falsely claim to be Christian will have to appear before the Authority (God Himself) and give account for their actions.
Hebrews 9:27
It is appointed to man to die once, and after that, the judgement
To those who are NOT trusting in Christ, it is not too late. God loves you. He loves you so much that He gave His all to reconcile you with Himself. He is waiting to receive you.
2 Corinthians 6:2
Behold, NOW is the accepted time; behold, NOW is the day of salvation.

Showing our faith by our works–when grace abounds, it cannot help but flow out to the world at large! AMEN!
Yes, Granbee, when we have a true experience of knowing Christ, our lives are changed completely. HIS grace flows from us and should be seen by the world.
Angela,
Thank you for this very solemn reminder… ANYONE who thinks they are saved ahould take the time to make their calling and election sure. In other words, it is not an issue what each one of us has done (walking an aisle, saying a prayer, etc.) It is making sure that Christ has worked in us!
Agreed, Rob. Too many people have been trapped by ‘easy believism’ and a false security. Once we have entered into a personal relationship with Jesus Christ and experience the REALITY of His activity in our lives, we know the Truth and walk in His way.
It is good that we do not have to judge others whether they are scammers or not because if they are supposed to give glory to the Father and do not, they are accountable to Him for cheating. We have to warn but we do not see the hearts of men. What we have to do is to ensure that we are living and witnessing right. Let us pray that the Lord will help us not to be tempted or yield to the temptation of being deceivers. Let us pray that the Lord will help us to lead others to Him, who need the Lord.
