We love to hear the pitter patter of young feet and thank God for each and every child.
Isaiah 52:7 indicates “How beautiful on the mountains are the feet of those who bring good news, who proclaim peace, who bring good tidings, who proclaim salvation, who say to Zion, “Your God reigns!”
Paul wrote “And how can they preach unless they are sent? As it is written, “How beautiful are the feet of those who bring good news!” Romans 10:15
Paul adds Romans 15:20 “It has always been my ambition to preach the gospel where Christ was not known, so that I would not be building on someone else’s foundation”
and adds Ephesians 6:15 “and with your feet fitted with the readiness that comes from the gospel of peace”.
Mark 6: 7 And he (Jesus) called the twelve and began to send them out two by two, and gave them authority over the unclean spirits. 8 He charged them to take nothing for their journey except a staff—no bread, no bag, no money in their belts—9 but to wear sandals and not put on two tunics.1 10 And he said to them, “Whenever you enter a house, stay there until you depart from there. 11 And if any place will not receive you and they will not listen to you, when you leave, shake off the dust that is on your feet as a testimony against them.” 12 So they went out and proclaimed that people should repent. 13 And they cast out many demons and anointed with oil many who were sick and healed them.”
Matthew 10:14 adds “Verily, I say unto you, it shall be more tolerable for Sodom and Gomorrha in the day of judgment, than for that city. “This clause is omitted in some copies.
What we learn is feet can bring blessings or damnation.
A commentary by Gill’s Exposition of the Bible for Mark 6:11 states
“shake off the dust under your feet, for a testimony against them; that they had been with them, and attempted to preach the Gospel to them, but they despised and rejected it; wherefore they departed from them as an unworthy people, against whom the dust of their feet would rise as a testimony, in the day of judgment; ”
“It is certain that there will be a day of judgment; it is fixed, God has appointed it, though it is not known by men or angels: this will be universal; all must appear in it before God, the judge of all, Jews and Gentiles; such who have lived in the earlier ages of time, as well as those that will live nearer that day; such who have only had the dim light of nature to guide them, and also who have been favoured with the Gospel revelation: the inhabitants of Sodom and Gomorrha, though they have had the judgments of God upon them in this world, they will not escape the righteous judgment of God hereafter; things are not over with them, there is still a reckoning to be made, an account to pass with them; their full punishment is not yet executed, even though they have been suffering the vengeance of eternal fire; their bodies must be raised, and they must receive for the things which they have done in them, and which they have so dreadfully and unnaturally abused; and yet, as vile sinners as they have been, and as sore a punishment as they are worthy of, their punishment will be milder and more tolerable, than that of the inhabitants of such places, where the Gospel has been preached, and they have despised and rejected it. May the inhabitants of our land, especially of some parts of it, as of London, and others, consider this!”
Beware dear reader, God offers peace to you but if that peace offer is spurned then there will be judgement of His wrath. He waits with patience but has a limit. Do not be too late, as feet that bring peace may leave you in judgment of the Righteous God whose Son Jesus Christ’s sacrifice of His life for the penalty of sins of the world is rejected.
Faith Child, the judgement which comes with feet which bring good news is not often shared. We must do our part in love and peace and warn our family, friends, associates that the day is coming when judgement will come on them who continue in their wayward ways.
