Psalm 7:1,2 Lord my God, I take refuge in you; save and deliver me from all who pursue me, 2 or they will tear me apart like a lion and rip me to pieces with no one to rescue me.
Response : Father, I come to you in faith today for without faith it is impossible to please you and without trust in You, it is worthless to pray. Whatever the emergency I may face, please help me retain my reliance on You.
Thank You Lord that by Your special covenant, sealed by Jesus’ blood, and ratified in my own soul I have a sense of union with You; in You, and in You only, do I put my trust. I shake, but my rock moves not. It is never right to distrust You, and never vain to trust You. And now, with both divine relationship and holy trust - I can ask that You save me from all sin and any that persecute me or slander, to devour me.
Lord deliver me in time of trouble, extricate me from the enemy’s snares, acquit me of their accusations, give a true and just deliverance from those who would injure my character, as I come to Your throne of mercy.
As my fear of the roaring lion who will tear at my soul, co-works with my plea of faith, please deliver me from the fierce lion, just as You delivered David from the fierce lion who would rend the victim in pieces, break all the bones, and devour all, because no shepherd was near to protect the lamb or rescue it from the ravenous beast.
Thank you Lord for You are my Father who cannot be silent when your child is in such peril. No, You will not endure the thought of your darling in the jaws of a lion, You will arise and deliver Your persecuted one and You will heal the wounds of a sword and the wounds of the tongue cut deeper than the flesh, which are not soon cured.
Father, slander will be common against Your children. It will leave a slur, even if it be wholly disproved. Common fame, although notoriously a common liar, has very many believers. Once an ill word gets into men’s mouths, it is not easy to get it fully out again. Oh, it is a meanness most detestable to stab a good man in his reputation, but diabolical hatred observes no nobility in its mode of warfare. We must be ready for this trial, for it will surely come upon us. If God was slandered in Eden, we shall surely be maligned in this land of sinners. Help us Lord, gird up our loins, for this fiery trial awaits us all. In Jesus’ Name I plead. Amen.
