Dim Sum – Unjammed!

This is Dim Sum – Unjammed! a sequel blog to Dim Sum – Jammed!

Do you know  the Word of God? How many times have you heard  sermons preached from  or writings  on  the Word? Have you sung  Christian hymns and choruses based on the Word of God? Yet you have ignored, or have not taken heed of the messages.   How often has  your sincere wrong choice shaped your decision-making and you?

We  fall into the danger  of  being jammed in life

1.when we begin to think that we can make decisions and do things void of the guidance from God. Why do we do this? –Because there is a way that seems right to us!

Therefore, to one who knows the right thing to do, and does not do it, to him it is sin.  Let’s look at some Statistics:

10% of church members cannot be found
20% of church members never attend church
25% admit that they never pray
35% admit that they do not read their Bibles
40% admit that they never contribute to the church by tithe or offering
60% never give to missions
70% never assume responsibility within the church
85% never invite anyone to church
95 % have never won anyone to Christ
BUT! 100% expect to go to heaven
(The Choice, by Thomas Trask, Zondervan Pub. House, Grand Rapids, MI, 1999)

The statistics were true in 1999 and must be worse today as the situation has deteriorated much more. Have we gone our own way instead of the Lord’s?

The “saints of God” are to give an account for our actions.  We may be getting by just fine the way we are, but we must remember that just because we feel no conviction from the Lord, it does not mean that He is happy with our actions, or our independent way of life.  He says:  “Consider this, you who forget God, or I will tear you to pieces, with no one to rescue you”  Psalm 50:22.  God is not letting you get away from the consequence of  your  wantonness (the trait of lacking restraint or control; reckless freedom from inhibition or worry)  because there is a judgment to come for the people who forget God.

2. when we make choices based on what we like or dislike; rather than on what the Word of God would instruct us to do, based on a terrible self-deception that we can make a better choice than God can, and that we know how to order our life better than God does. To trust the arm of flesh instead of the mighty arm of God leads to spiritual death. Psalm 50:14 describes a backslider “Sacrifice thank offerings to God,   fulfill your vows to the Most High“. The back-slider is one who has made a practice and fulfillment of life by doing what seemed best to him without consultation with God at all!!! – no obedience.

3. when  we want to lean upon the Lord’ s wisdom, but we want it still the same with no change, so we stretch what God may be saying in order to suit our desires. This is no better!

Safeguards to  be or remain unjammed

1.Acknowledge that God alone  is our only source of true prosperity and genuine help.
-God, and God alone, knows the right way to the right end.
-God, and God alone, knows what will benefit us.
-God, and God alone, knows from what to free us, and what to shelter us from.

There is a vast difference between God and man. When the word of the Lord came to Ezekiel, he was instructed to say to the people: “You have not distinguished between the holy and the unholy,” (Ezek. 22:26).

Man sees the appearance … God can see beyond the appearances.
Man has a limited knowledge of the past … God has a perfect view of the past.
Man has limited knowledge of the future … God has “foreknowledge!”
Man can be affected by prejudice, selfishness, ulterior motives … God is perfectly impartial and just in all His judgments.
Man can be blinded by passion and self-will … Man can be tempted …these things do not happen to God! Now who has the better view of things? There is a higher judge far above man!

When  Proverbs tells us to acknowledge Him,  it is more than just a nod, or just saying “hello”, more than just a general acknowledgment that God is there. He is everywhere. It is acknowledging with an earnest penetrating understanding and recognition in such a way that it engages the whole of who we are and trust in such a way as we do it with all our heart!

-The heart represents the whole of a person’s inner-most being.
-And it is the central seat of Sacrifice  to God, to fulfill our vows to the MostHigh.

2. Read on in Proverbs 3:7-8, Do not be wise in your own eyes; Fear the Lord and turn away from evil. [8] It will be healing to your body, and refreshment to your bones.

1 Cor. 3:18-20, “Let no man deceive himself. If any man among you thinks that he is wise in this age, let him become foolish that he may become wise. [19] For the wisdom of this world is foolishness before God. For it is written, “He is the one who catches the wise in their craftiness”; [20] and again, “The Lord knows the reasonings of the wise, that they are useless.”? Paul was warning them not to be deceived into thinking that the wisdom of their present human age was sufficient for gaining salvation or for building the Church. We have been likened unto salmon that swim upstream anyhow, we must go against the flow.

3. When it comes to a lack of wisdom, turn to James 1:5 .
But if any of you lacks wisdom, let him ask of God, who gives to all men generously and without reproach, and it will be given to him.”When it comes to trying to avoid going in the way that seems right unto us? JUST ASK GOD FOR WISDOM!!!

4. we are to live according to the Spirit and not the flesh. Romans 8:12-14 “So then, brethren, we are under obligation, not to the flesh, to live according to the flesh– [13] for if you are living according to the flesh, you must die; but if by the Spirit you are putting to death the deeds of the body, you will live. [14] For all who are being led by the Spirit of God, these are sons of God.

We are obligated  to live and serve God according to the Spirit now! Not being obligated to the flesh or controlled by the flesh. We are saved, however the flesh has not been eradicated.

When Jesus was tempted it seemed right for Him to be able to eat the loaf of bread made from a stone. But in order to do so, He would have compromised who He was and submitted Himself to satan rather than God the Father. He did not fall into that temptation.  The way that seems right may not always make sense. It may not always seem logical. BUT, it must be founded within God, His Holy Word and His Will.

We MUST battle the flesh, and also gain victories over it. That is why Christ came, is it not? So that we would no longer be bound to the flesh, but that we would be set free and have liberty from the flesh. He whom the Son has set free, is free indeed!-Free to make right decisions, correct according to the Spirit, and not what seems right to us. Let’s begin to make the Right choices for the Right reasons.

-Even when His makes no sense. but according to His Word, we must act on it!
-Even when we may not understand all the details,  we must still obey!
-Even when we have no idea what the end result will be, we must still walk in faith!

This is because we serve an Omniscient, Omnipotent and Omnipresent God. He knows the end from the beginning. The only one who knows our yesterday, today and forever.

The Bible tells us in James 4:17, Therefore, to one who knows the right thing to do, and does not do it, to him it is sin.  When we begin to make decisions upon what we think is best  or the way that seems right rather than seeking the face of God and searching out His wisdom we sin.

He whom the Son has set free, is free indeed!!! Unjammed! Free to make right decisions Correct according to the Spirit, and not what seems right to us. Let’s begin to make the right choices for the right reasons after God’s heart.

It has been said that, the road to hell is paved with good intentions. It could be interpreted, the road to death is walked by doing what may seem right unto a man.

Let us live in a way that honors the Lord, in obedience to God, and it will lead to life eternal and joy unspeakable!!! He keeps  you free to worship Him with joy.

There’s within my heart a melody
Jesus whispers sweet and low,
Fear not, I am with thee, peace, be still,
In all of life’s ebb and flow.

Refrain

Jesus, Jesus, Jesus,
Sweetest Name I know,
Fills my every longing,
Keeps me singing as I go.

All my life was wrecked by sin and strife,
Discord filled my heart with pain,
Jesus swept across the broken strings,
Stirred the slumbering chords again.

Refrain

Feasting on the riches of His grace,
Resting ’neath His sheltering wing,
Always looking on His smiling face,
That is why I shout and sing.

Refrain

Though sometimes He leads through waters deep,
Trials fall across the way,
Though sometimes the path seems rough and steep,
See His footprints all the way.

Refrain

Soon He’s coming back to welcome me,
Far beyond the starry sky;
I shall wing my flight to worlds unknown,
I shall reign with Him on high.

Refrain
