Dear Lord we acknowledge that You are in control of the winds and the waves. Please have mercy on the people who need You in their lives. Please give wisdom to those who have to vote and let each fulfil the responsibilty and privilege You have given them. May all know that You are God and Your will be done in earth as in heaven. Praying for all affected by Sandy and for all involved in restoring order after Sandy has passed. May the Lord use the storm and people’s changed circumstances and possible fears to draw people’s thoughts to Himself and may many come to know Him.
(My eldest son lives in lower Manhattan and works for Bloomberg in the city. Bloombergs evacuated him and placed him in a midtown hotel, so I know he is safe, though possibly without power)
Thank God for His hand on your son Cloudwatcher, and also that there were very few fatalities despite the wide devastation of Sandy. The Lord is merciful. May those who have lost their homes and other property, be comforted to know that their lives have been spared to bounce back in the sun of His love. He is reaching out to them and will be their refuge and strength if they will turn to Him in the days ahead.
Prayers continue
- for those who are in harms’ way. Please take care
- that there will not be panic to sustain life and that there will be help within communities as individuals help each other
- that the Red Cross staff will be guided to resolve on the scene issues
- that water, electricity and transportation facilities will be quickly repaired and functioning again
- that water-borne disease will be kept at bay.
