ONLY A LITTLE – but it caused a failure . . .

Trans World Airlines constructed what was intended to be an electrically perfect room. It was an 8ft x 10ft room built at Fairfax Airport in Kansas City, in which mechanics could work entirely sealed off from all electrical distractions.

Very special construction techniques were employed, but when it was completed, an ohmmeter reading revealed there was a small amount of conduction somewhere in that room.  After many hours of searching, testing and measuring with all kinds of detectors and gauges, the trouble was found.

The culprit was LEAD PENCIL MARKS placed on the timber by the carpenters when they measured the wood before sawing.

The GRAPHITE in the pencil lead was only a VERY TINY THING but it was responsible for the problem.

There is no such thing as a “little” sin in God’s eyes. The things we tend to brush off as “little” still mar our fellowship because SIN IS SIN and sin DOES separate us from God.

Isaiah 59:2
Your iniquities have separated you
from your God;
and your sins have hidden His face
from you,
so that He will not hear.

Psalm 66:18
If I regard iniquity in my heart,
the Lord will not hear.

Those who value their relationship with their Father God know
that just the TINIEST thing can mar the CLOSENESS of their fellowship.
No, God doesn’t love us any less.
He doesn’t withdraw His blessings from us,
but SIN SEPARATES
and the CLOSENESS is broken until we confess and repent.

Unconfessed sin – a critical thought, a harboured grudge, doubt, fear, anger, impatience, an unloving gesture, harsh words, failure to show compassion etc may be the “pencil mark” which interferes with our contact with God and our fellowship with one another.

If we have “pencil marks” marring our fellowship
we need an “eraser”

- and praise God we HAVE one.

The blood of Jesus Christ, God’s Son,
cleanses us from all sin [1 John 1:7]

and not only cleanses us but completely removes the sin
“as far as the east is from the west” [Psalm 103:12]

To have the closest fellowship with our Lord
we need to keep short accounts with God.

Thoughts from Mr Anon:
** A HOLY GOD can require of man NOTHING LESS than HOLINESS.
** SIN cannot be REDUCED to MANAGEABLE proportions.
** SIN always RUINS where it REIGNS
** EVERY sin is a vote for the devil.

I am Cloudwatcher, a 76 year old Christian lady, happily married to a wonderful man for over 50 years. We have five wonderful sons, all with at least one University degree and in top positions in their chosen fields. One son is still single but four have found perfect wives and they have given us five lovely grandchildren. I was born in England and while I'm proud of my English heritage, I am doubly proud to be a true-blue, fair-dinkum Aussie. My husband and I are committed Christians whose first priority is to love and serve our risen Saviour, the Lord Jesus Christ. My life story will tell of my journey from abuse to peace. I suffered 22 years of abuse, being constantly told I was totally evil and an ugly freak: no one would ever want me, so I might as well do the world a favour and kill myself.

    Angela,

One of the greatest problems that Christians have always faced is the temptation to minimize the effects of sin in our lives. It is just as you say…. each and every sin stands in the way of fellowship with our Lord. But also, in many cases, a small sin will snowball into much greater and more numerous acts of disobedience as time progresses. What a timely warning that is much needed by us all. Lord bless you.

    • When I became a Christian, I thought of sin as being all those “big” sins. Now, 76 years later, I am so much more conscious of the “little” sins and the sins of omission. While I believe sin is sin is sin, I have found the so-called “tiniest” of sin separates me from that close communion with my amazing triune God.

Thank you for adding about the snow-balling effect of sin. Sin does not live alone, but will quickly gather more and more. Praise God that the blood of Jesus cleanses from ALL sin and that HE empowers us to be overcomers.

      What an amazing God!

So true, Cloudwatcher! Search my heart, oh God, and see if there be any wicked way in me. Purify and cleanse my heart with the blood of the Lamb. Fully submitted to you Lord, with a tender heart towards you. Praise God for the blood!

So true, Cloudwatcher. Many of us have experienced times when we have prayed and it seemed our prayers bounced off the ceiling. The Lord was there to hear our prayers but it seemed to us with a guilty conscience that His face was hid from us. The best thing under that circumstance is to review our status with God against the standard of His Word. Many run away and hide because of disobedience, instead of confessing in Jesus’ Name for sins committed , and turning around to do the right. It is best we ask for forgiveness and make right with our Heavenly Father for it is gain and no loss to us because He sees our hearts.

    • >> “it is gain and no loss to us” – so true.
We can never be the loser when we follow the Lord’s will. Sometimes we try to hang on to something when the Lord says ‘no’ – but when we give it up, we are left wondering why we tried to hang on. When compared with the blessings of being in agreement with our amazing God, the thing we before cherished becomes totally worthless.

      What an amazing God!
