- my first car at the age of 18 years was a two door Triumph Herald. I used to drive to school and gave a lift to a Muslim girl. One day we had racial riots in Singapore and a curfew was enforced. However, this Muslim girl and 4 other Chinese girls packed and overloaded my car as we tried to get home in that emergency. Where it normally took us 45 minutes to reach home, we were delayed for six hours as we crossed certain Muslim areas and she undertook to guarantee our safety, while we guaranteed her safety when we entered the Chinese locations. Praise the Lord we reached safely home although we crossed areas where killings took place.
- I had a station wagon and used to load the wagon with 8 children of varying ages , to bring them to Sunday School as they all came from non-Christian homes. Several are still serving the Lord. Praise the Lord we began worshipping the Lord with choruses en route to Sunday School. It was really fun as we sang in rounds and even in competition.
- There was a time when my car was used to ferry youth to youth rallies and evangelistic outreach. Now I fetch a widow to and from church and have raisd some funds for our urdu blog translations. Praise the Lord. Jesus knows I will drive for Him, till I cannot because of my age or health.
I have been truly blessed with a car every time I needed one.
In April this year my certificate of entitlement (COE) to own a car expires in its 10th year. God has provided a family car for me and I do not have to buy a car with a COE for USD 40k, plus the cost of cars at highest prices ever in Singapore.
The sick man needed a ride to Jesus. His friends responded. He was brought to Jesus who healed him. But for his faithful friends, the man would have remained sick. Have you a friend who is sick and needing a ride? It could be a ride to the doctor, hospital, to a day care centre, to a relative’s home to receive care , to church or cell group for some encouragement and yes, even for a prayer for healing to take place. Do you have a car, a van or any means of transportation? Do you have a driving license to drive safely for the Lord? Are you the one the Lord is choosing to be His channel of blessing? Is the Lord tugging at your heart to provide transportation to a brother or sister in their time of need or even to children from non-Christian homes to Sunday School? You will be so blessed by obeying His prompting to help a friend to receive a blessing from the Lord, whether it be perfect healing, or encouragement to wait out the delayed healing process the Lord has allowed to draw him/her closer to Him. Will you be that one so blessed through whom God’s healing can be manifested with many witnesses in Church or in a cell group – because you provided the transportation? You do not have to ask God what He wants you to do. Just do it for His glory - what do you have in your hands? Use it for the Lord – it will be your stewardship to Him.
Response : Lord, thank You for the many ways You use to bring Your people together. If I can help someone find their way to You, help me hear Your voice and obey in faith. Please open my eyes today and in the future, to be sensitive without being asked, but to offer free transportation to someone who needs to get close to You for salvation, healing or to meet a specific need for medical attention or even to see a pastor or the elders of the church, so that they may lay hands on the sick and heal them in Jesus’ Name. Help me be your willing servant. Thank You for providing me with the assets to provide transportation and the ability to drive. Protect us as we travel for You. Amen.
