How do Christians keep from grieving the Spirit of God? They do right and act right in the eyes of God because of the power of the Grace of God. Why? Christians have the God given power to do right. Christians have a Divine nature. Righteousness is imputed into the character and make-up of a child of God. Not only is every sin forgiven, but the heart is made clean and holy so man, husband, father, and son can be the man that God made him to be. This goes for woman, wife, sister, and daughter so they can be the woman God intended for them to be. The power of God’s Grace is enough to keep a child of God from grieving the Spirit.
Col 1:10…That ye might walk worthy of the Lord unto all pleasing, being fruitful in every good work,
The Spirit of God comes into the heart and soul “when” man believes and trusts Christ’s shed blood for personal forgiveness. A believer is “sealed” into Christ when he believes and finds forgiveness. This sealing is when God puts man into Christ and shows man how to live, act, and behave. Like God sealed Noah and his family in the Ark when the waters of the Flood upon the Earth came. The Bible instructs us… to “not” grieve the Holy Spirit that sealed us into Christ.
Eph 4:30…And grieve not the holy Spirit of God, whereby ye are sealed unto the day of redemption
Many things in life can greive the Holy Spirit that put you into Christ. Divorce, wrongdoing, drug use, cigarettes, wrong dress ethic, lusting for money, lusting for worldly things, denying the power of God, many more things, etc.
God doesn’t want people to grieve Him. Man knows what’s necessary to please God. Many people in the Bible walked with God however; many more did not please God. In the days of Noah, sin was so rampant that God was sorry that He even created man. The Bible says so!
Gen 6:6-7…And it repented the LORD that he had made man on the earth, and it grieved him at his heart. And the LORD said, I will destroy man whom I have created from the face of the earth;
Did you know Noah walked with God by Faith? Noah was a faithful man.
Gen 6:8-9…Noah found grace in the eyes of the LORD. These are the generations of Noah: Noah was a just man and perfect in his generations, and Noah walked with God.
Even before Noah Enoch lived the way God wanted him to live. Enoch pleased God he didn’t grieve God.
Heb 11:5…By faith Enoch was translated that he should not see death; and was not found, because God had translated him: for before his translation he had this testimony, that he pleased God.
Note Enoch pleased God! Enoch didn’t grieve God. What gave Enoch the ability to please God? Faithfulness and acceptence.
God was grieved with the children of Isreal because they wouldn’t obey the Law that God blessed them with on Mt. Sinai.
Heb 3:10…Wherefore I was grieved with that generation, and said, They do alway err in their heart; and they have not known my ways.
Christians have a greater blessing than the Law of Moses. It’s called the ministry of the Holy Spirit that gives man a new heart and a new life. The Christian heart and life is a greater blessing than the Law of Moses because it allows the Spirit of God to work within the heart and soul. Christian’s do right and act right because God blessed them with a new life found in the redemptive work of Christ. Christians please God in their actions and character because God made them new creatures for His glory. Doesn’t say anything about grieving the Spirit here. You and I both know what grieves God. You and I both know God doesn’t want us to do it. So don’t do it. You have the God given power to do right because Christ made you that way. Glory! Your heart is cleased by the precious blood of Christ. You’re supposed to live and act like a child of God. Mind the Spirit. It’s simple as that.
Heb 13:20-21…through the blood of the everlasting covenant, Make you perfect in every good work to do his will, working in you that which is wellpleasing in his sight, through Jesus Christ;
What should we do with this next verse?
Col 1:22…to present you holy and unblameable and unreproveable in his sight:
You be the judge about holy, unblameable, and unreprovable. Simply put, The Spirit doesn’t want you to grieve Him. What’s your excuse? There is no excuse. Don’t grieve the Spirit of God. It’s that simple. Be faithful. Mind the Spirit everyday of your life and He’ll make you happy and content in the Christ of your Salvation. Isn’t it beautiful? Glory. He lives in you and I. Let’s prove it! Makes great witnesses for Christ too!
