Kindergarteners Pick Their Favorite Bible Characters. Rachel’s Choice

Grandma and I have recently returned from a week’s visit with our granddaughters, Rachel (5) and Lauren (3). It was a wonderful trip, I’ll write about it more a bit later as time allows. There is one thing, however, that I’d like to share today.

Rachel is now a graduate… from kindergarten! She’s very proud of that. Her grandparents are, too, of course.

At the end of their kindergarten year, the kids were asked to name their favorite Biblical character. They were mostly based on the well know children’s’ Bible stories. Jesus was the top pick, but others included Moses, Jonah, King David and Samson. One of the boys even picked Goliath until he was reminded of the giant’s fate. I think he switched to David.

As she so often does, Rachel put a great deal of thought into her selection. I believe that she was the last to name her favorite. And her winner was:

ESTHER!

Her reasoning was expressed simply:

  1. Esther believed in God and followed what He wanted.
  2. Esther was brave.
  3. Esther was a woman.

My son and daughter-in-law certainly made the right choice in sending Rachel to a Christian school. Grandpa thinks she graduated with honors!

Shalom,

Art

Congratulations to the graduate and grandpa! Teach them young and they will make you and the Lord proud, for when they are old they will not depart from the truths.
