The Holy Spirit gives man a desire to quit sin

One of the greatest blessings any man can receive in this life is the blessing of God’s Divine Grace. The Law of Moses in the Old Testament was a great blessing upon Israel, but the power of Divine Grace in the New Testament is greater today in the Church Age. Here’s why.

From the cross at Calvary many things flowed upon fallen humanity that gave them a glimmer of hope. The Church was birthed in the death of Christ and the Holy Spirit was the outflow where God’s Grace could reach every human soul on Earth (Jew and Gentile). For those who heard about Christ and were able to touch His Divine presence and power in their lives…a great miracle is given. It is called the miracle of the new birth. A miracle that converts fallen man into a child of the King. This is not a natural experience it is a Spiritual experience. The Spirit of holiness that resurrected Christ from the tomb is the same Spirit of holiness that touches the human soul with holiness. What is the touch? How does the miracle of God’s Grace effect fallen man?

This miracle proves the fact that when a sinful man repents, and trusts the death of Christ on the Cross alone for personal forgiveness from all past sins…the Holy Spirit gives this person a desire to “quit” sin. Quitting sin is a God given desire and blessing that only comes from the power of God’s Grace. Quitting sin is the initial work of the Spirit of God in the heart of a man that has repented and trusted Christ for personal forgiveness and Salvation of the soul. The unsaved man that repents had (past tense) a human desire to quit sin but not enough power to overcome the deceitfulness of sin. That’s where the miracle from Christ comes in. This miracle of Divine Grace (in the Church) keeps the Holy Spirit present in every individual that has accepted Christ’s death alone for personal forgiveness from all past sins. The Holy Spirit’s effect on a repented man who was (past tense) a sinner by nature…now has a God given power to do right, and act right (present tense). A holy heart has no desire to sin nor would it remain holy in future sinful conduct.

Having a God given desire to quit sin is the actual evidence that fallen man has recieved power from above to be made a child of God. This God given desire is not human power, or human choice that gives man power to quit sin. This God given desire comes from the Holy Spirit’s presence in the life of a believer. That’s why children of God “imitate” God and live a godly life. Their godliness and desire to live that way is given from above and received in the new birth. Only a miracle performed by God can make man right, and holy with no desire to sin. If man could do it himself he wouldn’t need Christ for redemption of the human soul.

This is why the Bible teaches that Christians don’t have to sin. When people realize that the Holy Spirit gives them a desire to cease from sin they’ll quit their meaness and mind the Spirit of God. After man has the God given desire and power to quit sin…he will mind the Spirit of God and be subject to the same Christ who died 2011 years ago at Calvary…who also sits on the Throne in Heaven today showing the members of His body how to live, act, and behave. The members of Christ’s body don’t tell the head what to do. The head tells the members what to do. Be ye holy as I am holy, thus sayeth the Lord.

See what one little God given desire can do for a man who is powerless without Christ? Glory to Christ! Christ is alive and people who live a holy life in the eyes of God “prove” He’s alive in their actions and character. Prove it!

  1. ptl2010 says:

Jesus said : And I, if I be lifted up from the earth, will draw all men unto myself.
    John 12:32.

And so Jesus has been lifted up and He lives today and is drawing all men to Himself.
He is calling out to you. Ask Him to give you a changed heart from sin to holiness.

Today, if you hear Him speaking to you harden not your heart.
