CLICK A BLESSING TODAY – Lead me on

When I first heard this song sung by Amy Grant I could not understand the context till I read the following words and watched the U-tube reflection :

The Words

Lead Me On by Amy Grant, Michael W. Smith, and Wayne Kirkpatrick
Sung by Amy Grant

Shoulder to the wheel
For someone else’s selfish gain
Here there is no choosing
Working the clay
Wearing their anger like a ball and chain.
Fire in the field
Underneath a blazing sun
But soon the sun was faded
And freedom was a song
I heard them singing when the day was done
Singing to the holy One.
Lead me on
Lead me on
To a place where the river runs
Into your keeping, oh.
Lead me on
Lead me on
The awaited deliverance
Comforts the seeking…lead on.
Waiting for the train
Labelled with a golden star
Heavy hearted boarding
Whispers in the dark
“Where are we
In chambers made for sleeping, forever
Voices like thunder in a mighty roar
Cry to the Lord.
Lead me on
Lead me on
To a place where the river runs
Into your keeping, oh.
Lead me on
Lead me on
The awaited deliverance
Comforts the seeking…lead on.
Man hurts man
Time and time, time again
And we drown in the wake of our power
Somebody tell me why.
Lead me on
Lead me on
To a place where the river runs
Into your keeping, oh.
Lead me on
Lead me on
The awaited deliverance
Comforts the seeking…lead on.
Lead me on
Lead me on
To a place where the river runs
Into your keeping, oh.
Lead me on
Lead me on
The awaited deliverance
Comforts the seeking…lead on.
going–is it very far?”
Bitter cold terrain
Echoes of a slamming door
The reflection

According to Wikepedia

“”Lead Me On” was written by Michael W. Smith. It is a fiery song, both in terms of lyrics and in music. The lyrics, according to Grant, deal abstractly with slavery and the Holocaust. The lyrics also talk about man’s relation to these events and man’s relation to man. The message of the song makes it very strong…The music only adds to the drama of the lyrics. It is mostly electric guitar… Unfortunately, the song might have been too strong for the general market. Like almost all the other singles from the album, it topped the Christian radio chart. However, the secular market was not as welcoming.”

Let us reflect: are we delivering the message of the gospel too loudly? Too strong?, so that the gospel is not being welcomed?

Let us pause a while … is our message of the gospel being sent at the right pitch and tempo and time to be effective? No we do not need to bow to worldly forces and focus on the wrongs and the anger, nor to worldly requirements with loud sound of the guitar.

The Lord has given us the brains and the discernment to present the gospel in the most effective way … in love and not by force.

Let us present the gospel in love that the world may see Christ lives in us and learn to love Him too.
Each time we have an opportunity let us pray for the Lord’s love to consume us and be poured out like a river of living water to the thirsty around us.
