Dim Sum – Why do Christians live in poverty of spirit?

Happiness is impacted by people and external environment. Joy wells up from within the very soul and spirit of man. It comes only from God when we walk in the centre of His will.

Do you exist or live only with happiness that abates and abounds with other people’s temperaments, living conditions and what you have or do not have OR do you live in thanksgiving and praise for what He has bestowed on you, and filled with joy knowing He is in control of the life He has promised you?

Some say it is easy to say you have abundant life when you have everything but it is a different story when you have no job, no savings and no home.

Have you thought that
– it is when you have nothing that He can be your everything?
– He will never leave you alone and will bring into your path people unrelated to you or brothers and sisters in Christ to help and show His love and care, who would never cross your path if you were not in your “poor” situation
– only when you have come to the end of yourself that you will see Him there? that up to that stage you have only looked to self and prided yourself for all your sufficiency?
– God does not lie and does what He says. He said He will supply all your needs and shows you with assurance that the birds of the air have food and shelter why cant He provide for you. You need to be looking out for your needs which He is supplying and be thankful for these.

The Bible says, “Rejoice always” (1 Thessalonians 5:16). A couple of verses later it says, “. . . in everything give thanks; for this is God’s will for you in Christ Jesus” (v. 18). “Rejoice in the Lord always; again I say, rejoice” (Philippians 4:4).
Sometimes it is not easy to rejoice or to give praise to the Lord, but that does not change the command.
“It is God’s will that we find joy in prayer in Christ Jesus in every condition of life,” writes A. T. Robertson.
If one really pauses to review, there are no circumstances in the Christian’s life where he cannot give thanks.
God works everything together for good for those who love Him (Rom. 8:28).
So give thanks and be filled with His inexplicable joy.
