UPDATE FROM LI TING
9 MAY 2011
Thank you for praying for me! here are some great thanksgivings!
PET SCAN 29 April
1) The PET scan was held at Redlink instead of SGH this time. This is $400 cheaper with NCC’s referral, much less waiting time and much friendlier staff!
2) The pain was bearable and I had a chance to pray with a new friend I made going through PET scan for her newly diagnosed cancer. We had a chance to encourage each other and pray together!
3) God did a miraculous work in my mom’s life that day… In short, having cancer gave me lots of opportunities for me to witness to my mom and let her witness God’s peace residing in me daily. That day, she called to tell me that she has removed ALL the buddhist books, altars and paintings at home to her friend’s house. She knows that was the real reason why I moved out. She hoped I could move back home. We agreed that I will be shifting back end of this year. This is a BIG step for her, and only a work of God.
PET SCAN RESULTS
I went to receive my PET Scan results with a peace that came from God.
I thought to myself, “If there are no new tumours, I will celebrate, thank Him for added days of grace given to me, and pursue with faith what He has deposited in my heart to do in this new season. If there are new tumours, I will still thank God for the past 27 years He has given me, continue to live on everyday with joy and serve Him until the day He finally takes me home. Either way, it’s a win win situation.”
I want to thank my sister and Mimi who were there with me to hear the news. I was thrilled when I heard my oncologist telling me that there are no new tumours! He couldn’t see any lymph nodes affected as well! Though Melanoma is an unique cancer with no five year remission for me to look forward to, I will look to God as my strong tower and refuge daily, and celebrate daily!
Thanks for your prayers that have MADE A DIFFERENCE! =)

Subject: Updates and prayer needs
Thank you for your prayers and concern. Many people are wondering how I am doing physically, and asked if I am “well already”. I do now know the activity/growth of the cancer cells (neither do the Doctors) but what I do know is that I feel great! =) I am greatly refreshed spiritually, mentally and physically especially by my recent trip to Aenon Health Care in Malaysia . The last time I went in November I was still limping after my surgery. This time, I could go forest hiking around Aenon Health Care for 2 half hours! I also had a “race” with my sister and I ran faster than her! haa~
This Friday, I will be having my PET scan, which is a detailed test which can pick up even small tumours. The last time I did it was a day before my surgery in August, of which they see no other tumours other than the one on my right foot. However, they did see some activity at the chest of which they suspect to be chest infection. (hopefully not a growing tumour at the lungs) Hence, if there are no new tumours this time, I will only have my PET scan a year later from now.
The last PET scan was a very bad experience for me. I had to fast 6 hours before so I was having gastric during the 3 hours PET scan. My veins are very small so when the fluid which will cause cancer cells to “light up” was shot into my IV plug, it was excruciating pain. I then had to lie motionless for half an hour (while in pain). I have peace about my PET scan results which will be out on 5 May but I have a phobia of PET scan. Pls pray that God will let the pain during this PET scan be very minimal and bearable. Thanks!
Lastly, I want to give thanks that God has given me various opportunities to share my journey at Far East Broadcasting, a Christian radio station. I did one in English which will be aired soon on Hope 105.5 FM on sat 9pm going out to Singapore , Malaysia and Batam. Another one in Chinese will be aired in East Asia . I am thrilled that though I cannot be at the mission field in these places now, God brings my story to these nations. My cancer journey is not one about my faith, but God’s faithfulness. Do pray that God will use the interview and lead many to know God.
I did two Chinese recordings. The first one was on my journey as a Campus Staff and how students can share their faith on campus. The second is on God’s faithfulness in my cancer journey. I have done up a simple video using the mp3 file the Chinese broadcaster sent to me as an evangelistic tool online. Feel free to share with other people you know who are also going through cancer. Thanks.
