Romans 5:20…Moreover the law entered, that the offence might abound. But where sin abounded, grace did much more abound:
If you go back to the reason why God gave the Law to Israel you will find out the Law of Moses revealed sin to the heart of man. The Law showed man the magnitude of the offence of sin in the eyes of God. The reason? The Law made men accountable to God. God was revealed in the Law. Sin was revealed in the Law that the “offence” might abound.
Thank God when Christ died on the cross at Calvary God ushered in a greater blessing than the Law. It was a New Testament. He took away the first to establish the second. The Law was great! Grace is greater! Tha covenant of Law ceased. The covenant of Grace began. The Church was birthed! The ministry of Holy Spirit was given! Christ provided a greater blessing! His person. His power. His presence.
Today under Grace…in the Church, the body of Christ… we have a greater blessing than the Law of Moses. Grace outweighs anything else in life because of its power to rid man of sin and unrighteousness. Grace keeps the Holy Spirit present in the members of the Church. Grace is the power of God that flows from Calvary into the human soul. Grace unlike the Law is what God does in the heart of man. The Law required the action of man. Grace requires your faith and trust in the person of Christ. Grace brings righteousness into the heart of man. Grace makes the heart holy and clean.
Yes, my brothers and sisters sin does abound in this cold dark world…but Grace abounds more. Did you hear me? Grace is greater than sin. Glory! Grace is greater than sin! Grace abounds more! Much more the Bible says. Grace teaches men to deny ungodliness and worldly lust. Grace saves the human soul. Grace makes the heart holy and pure. Grace gives the gift of righteousness. Grace gives man power to live without sin. Yes, sin does abound but Grace abounds much more. God said so! He gave us His Word. Glory!
The reason a believer in Christ can live holy and without sin is because the Holy Spirit gives the child of God a desire to “quit” sin. Did you hear me? A child of God. Born of God. A new nature. A God-given nature. A holy nature. A clean heart. Righteous by Grace not according to my works. Not acccording to my striving. Not according to my own ability…but according to the power of God’s Grace that Justifies, Sanctifies, and will Glorify this body when I’m caught up to meet with Him in the air. Grace is greater than sin! Sin does abound but Grace abounds much, much, more. We’re blessed! A greater blessing because of Christ! Grace came because of what Christ did. Grace is now because of what Christ is doing in the Throneroom. He gives us all that’s needed to live holy and clean every day of our lives in Christ. Grace abounds! Glory! Grace abounds! Grace is greater and more powerful than sin. Grace abounds so much more!
