Does saying you are a Christian really make you a Christian?

What you say and what you are…are two different things. Many people say and make claim to be Christians and then they live like the Devil. Who are they kidding? Not God.

How does God see your heart when He looks down from Heaven. God knows if your sins are forgiven. God knows if your heart is clean. God knows what you really are. The preaching of the cross brings a new moral standard into your heart and thinking. It’s called holiness…which is a new way and a new life. A Christian is a Christian because Christ morally changed the heart and soul…into a child of God.

The moral holiness of a child of God comes from the Spirit of holiness that resurrected Christ from the grave. Holiness of character is being the man or woman that God morally made you. Holiness has nothing to do with what you say. Moral Holiness has everything to do with what you are. Christians are not Christians because they say they are Christians. Christians are Christians because they are “created” by God with a moral righteousness and moral holiness that comes by the Saving Grace of God.

What you say and what you are…are two different things. Many people say and make claim to be Christians and then they live like the Devil. Who are they kidding? Not God. Christians have a God-given standard of morality in their hearts that the natural man can never have or obtain without the person of Christ. Without this moral gift from above men can say anything but it doesn’t actually mean what they say is reality. Saying you’re a Christian doesn’t mean you’re really a Christian. The only thing that can make a person Christian is the moral power of Christ who resurrected from the grave.

When a man is morally changed by the Grace of God…God knows what he is. A child of God! Born of the Spirit! A Christian! Jesus Himself said you will know a tree by its fruit. The fruit of good tree (a Christian) bringeth forth “good fruit”. Fruit is not something that is talked about. The fruit of a Christian is something that is produced by God’s Spirit. The fruit of the Christian has nothing to do with what man says he is. The fruit of Christianity is what man becomes “after” Christ comes into your person. Isn’t that beautiful? Morally changed by God. A new creation! Passed from darkness to light…from death to life. Morally changed and will continue to mind the Spirt. Walking in the Spirit…not in the flesh. True to God not by word…but by deed.

About rickroehm

Since 1988 I’ve been writing and doing service for the Lord. It all began in 1987 after a personal walk began with the Lord. This personal walk with the Lord I speak of turned into extensive Bible studies and later evolved into blogging in early 2000. At present I write, author, and publish several different sites on the Internet. My Blogs contain a vast library of Theological writings, teaching videos, and preaching audios that currently go around the globe for the cause of Christ. I write at Christian Blessings on Wordpress, Holy Hubert Lindsey Group on Facebook, Churches on Trial at Google, publish You Tube videos, record sermons at, etc. I also pastor a Church called the Upper Room in Williamsburg, Ohio . My secular Blog called Southwestern Ohio Fishing on Wordpress is where I write about experiences with my son and fishing partner Chad where we together enjoy Mother Nature’s beauty mixed with Father God’s creation. At Southwestern Ohio Fishing Blog I also publish favorite recipes for those who enjoy eating and cooking as much as this writer does. Thanks for sharing your time and life with this writer at the Blogs. Here's more access to my ministry and fishing Blog if you'd care to check them out further. The Word says, you shall know them by their fruit. May the Lord help us show forth the right fruit to His glory.

So true. The ‘Yes, I am a Christian’ but not having some form of fruit for others to see as a testimony and witness to these words, is not fooling anyone, especially God.

  4. Brother Rick:

How right you are! To be a Christian, one needs to be not only a believer, but a disciple of Jesus Christ, obeying His commands and worshiping Him and His Father.

We also have “cultural Christians” by the millions. They wear their crosses, list “christian” as their religion but do nothing to actually worship or follow Christ. The fool themselves by “living good lives and doing good things” but bsically do not have Christ at the center of their lives.

    Shalom, Art

Good you hear from you. Contrary to many people’s belief…There is, “No such thing as a Carnal Christian”.

A Christ centered life is a happy life.
