What inspired these holy men to write? Where did the Divine revelation come from that was placed in these men’s hearts? Did you ever wonder why these holy men wrote the things they wrote?
Holy men were moved by the Holy Ghost. They were faithful to God. They experienced the hand of God in their lives.
You had Old Testament saints. Then you had New Testament saints. Old Testament saints looked forward to Christ’s coming. New Testament saints experienced Christ’s presence from the Throneroom and thus awaited the Rapture of the Church to escape future Wrath and Judgement.
Holy men kept records of God by writing books and letters. Old Testament saints made predictions and prophesied of the Messiah that God promised to come. New Testament saints wrote of the experience of God’s Grace they encountered after the death of a Savior and His exaltation to Heaven.
Holy men wrote the Bible because they were “moved” by the Holy Ghost. They kept records for God’s future use. They gave us evidence and truth about a living Christ in the Throneroom who rules and governs the members of His body.
Holiness of heart and conduct was essential for God to operate through and to keep these records. Holy men of the New Testament wrote their testimonies and experience of Christ in their lives. They all said the same thing. They all experienced the same Christ. All their letters confirmed each other.
The Epistles were records of New Testament saints. All New Testament saints testified of the power of Christ’s death, burial, and resurrection. They testified of Christ’s exaltation and enthronement. The very experience and blessing they had meant so much to them, they wrote Epistles and left records of truth…. written for our observation and study.
God was behind these holy men of God who wrote the Bible. The Bible is our source of knowledge about Christ to place our faith in. We have promises, and prophecy, and men’s experiences of Christ. All of such for edification and increase in the knowledge of our Savior and Lord Jesus Christ. Holiness is the reason why God’s written word is true. Holiness is the reason why men of God wrote the Bible.
Would you believe the holiness of man is mentioned more in the Bible than the holiness of God? Did you ever notice that the Bible was written by “holy” men of God?
