The Power of the Prayer of Praise and Worship
Philippians 4:6 Don’t worry about anything; instead, pray about everything. Tell God what you need, and thank him for all he has done.
This type of prayer should be incorporated and included into any prayer that we bring before the Father. The prayers of praise and worship will come from the heart and also come about because of our knowledge of Him and His Holiness and Excellency. It is an awesome experience when we begin to praise Him and worship Him and we feel His mighty presence around and with us. But, we are to praise Him and worship Him whether we feel His presence or not. He is worthy. Period. John 4:24 says … “God is spirit, and those who worship Him must worship in spirit and truth.” And just what is the truth? That He is God. That He is the maker and creator and re-creator of all. That He has made us and He has also re-made us. He is God. He is the ONLY Holy One. There is none good nor holy apart from Him. He is and has everything that we need and want in this life and the next life. He is the Alpha and Omega. He is the First and the Last. He is the Savior. He is the Redeemer. He is the One who gives us the victory. He is our Hope. He is our Faith sustainer. Praise and worship BELONG to Him. Whether we are in the mood or not. He deserves our praises and our worship. And not just on Sundays. We should make a habit of praising Him and thanking Him and worshiping Him all throughout our day. Regardless of how we feel or how our day is going. We may not feel good, but when we keep our eyes and hearts fixed on Him, we will feel better. Our day may be going to the dogs, but when we keep our eyes and our hearts fixed on Him, our day will get better. He is our source for strength. He is our source for endurance. He is our source for love and joy and goodness. He is our source for victory. How can we not praise Him? How can we forget to thank Him and and how do we NOT FEEL like worshiping Him? When we are hurting and feeling defeated or abandoned, we may not feel like it is worth our time or our effort. But praise will bring us into the midst of God, and His presence will begin to push aside the pain and discouragement.
Acts 16:23-26 “And when they had laid many stripes upon them, they cast them into prison, charging the jailor to keep them safely:
(24) Who, having received such a charge, thrust them into the inner prison, and made their feet fast in the stocks.
(25) And at midnight Paul and Silas prayed, and sang praises unto God: and the prisoners heard them.
(26) And suddenly there was a great earthquake, so that the foundations of the prison were shaken: and immediately all the doors were opened, and every one’s bands were loosed.”
When we praise and worship Him, we are lifting up our own spirits and we will begin to rise above our problems. Praise Him as it is an offering. Praise Him with thanksgiving. Praise Him because He is powerful beyond our understanding. Praise Him even when our flesh feels like we are betraying the truth. Praise Him because He is able to turn all sadness to joy. Praise Him because He is Love.
Great post! I think we all need a reminder now and then to be thankful and to praise our Lord for what He has done for us. It’s easy to say God is good on a good day, but we need to say God is good on the worst day and praise His name. 🙂
Amen to that writinggomer! God is to be praised at all times. Since the praise is about Him anyhow, not us, it does not matter what situation we find ourselves in, as long as we remember to praise Him!
Worship is a lifestyle too. I loved this post. Thanks for id Debra. 😀
Bless you Nightshade and praise be to God that you enjoyed!
