“For you have died and your life is hidden with Christ in God.” Colossians 3:3
As Christ became literally dead in the tomb, so we, in virtue of our connection with Him, have we become dead to sin, to worldly influences, pleasures, and ambition?
Do you feel safe and secure in Jesus? Do you feel that you are safe because you have committed your life to Jesus?
If you have that security which He promises and have experienced His salvation from fear of death and sin, then you cannot be hidden to the world.
In Mark 7:24 He entered a house and wanted no one to know it, but He could not be hidden. Jesus could not be hidden, the crowds followed Him wherever He went. They wanted to hear His words of wisdom and experience His deeds of mercy and to derive help from His loving compassion.
Today, are you hiding away from people, even though you may feel secure in Jesus and been saved from the curse of sin? Are you shunning the limelight because you think you are nothing and should not be seen? This is contrary to Jesus’ command to let your light shine before men that they may see your good works and glorify your Father in heaven. Are you a shrinking Violet, which at the touch of someone you close up and pretend as dead? How can your light shine? How can the world know that you are changed and have the light of Christ in your life? Your deportment and your attitude must reflect Christ so as to ring true for this verse – For me to live is Christ and to die is gain.
Are you hid in Christ, showing forth His glory?
Are you hid from the crowd that no one knows you are a Christian?
The two characteristics are not mutually exclusive but in cinque.. it must follow that once you are hid in Christ, you are not hid to the world. There would be a burning desire to please Him with thankfulness and appreciation. You will be filled with His zeal and compassion. You cannot keep quiet and stay hidden if you have walked with Jesus today. For just as He could not be hidden you won’t be too.
Are you hid in Christ? Are you hidden from the crowd?
If you are, examine yourself… you need to let your light shine before men that they may see your good works and glorify your Father which is in heaven.
