Ties that Bind

Upon awakening this morning, some things come to mind relating to the season. First the need to frame my Christmas image of “The Holy Family” : a gift for
my family, Great joy is shown on Joseph’s face as he holds Salvation in his arms.

What a responsibility it must have been knowing that, that little bundle, Jesus, would be the tie that binds mankind to the Father in heaven. We would know Him in no other way. The world was waiting upon Him as He grew to manhood. He understood his role short years later as a boy, when He responded “Did you not know I would be about my fathers work?” as mom and dad found him lingering in the marketplace,speaking to whomever would listen, His words of love and redemption.

We will, As Christians, search for Him in the marketplace and some will find him there in the love we express in our gifts. Others will not bother to look for they will not be about their Fathers business, but have fallen into the deep pit of commercialism and shallow discounts.

Another “tie that binds” is this very website, born of the Spirit, and the messages carried to the far reaches. Truly, our own Evelyn, the founder of “Click a Blessing”, is about her Father’s business – Christmas in, Christmas out; we share in her daily giftedness and dedication.

That surely is expressed in a hymn that likewise came to me;

“Blest be the tie that binds
Our hearts in Christian love;
The fellowship of kindred minds
Is like to that above… and
Before our Father’s throne
We pour out our ardent prayers
Our fears, our hopes, and aims are one
Our comfort and our cares”

We look for ties to Him, and we find it in the Trinity who guides our every effort – Even in the marketplace of words of comfort and companionship via the internet we are, and must be, “about our Father’s business”. Thank you all as partners ( both as readers and writers) in that Holy effort. Have a blessed Christmas.

    It is 4.30am in Singapore and I was awakened to access ChristianBlessings website and I find this blog on the ties that bind – amen round the clock, round the world, a testimony of the chorus I learned as a little girl in Sunday School :

    Every promise in the Book is mine
    Every chapter, every verse, every line
    All are promises of His love divine
    Every promise in the Book is mine.
    Mine, mine, mine, mine, Jesus is mine
    Mine when I’m weary, mine when I’m dreary
    Mine, mine, mine, mine, Jesus is mine
    Jesus is always mine.

    Amen this ChristianBlessings is a testimony that His promises are ever true. Praise the Lord.
    No matter what situation our readers and writers find themselves in, He is here,
    On His Word, in His Love, by His Spirit, Glory to His Name! Blest be the tie that binds
    As we do ministry in lives for our King here.

    Thank you UM for your blog. It is true. The Lord is here.
    Immanuel, God with us and ever shall be – for you and me and all those who are joined with His cords of love.
