Free from the Stronghold of Animosity
Written by Christian Writer Pola Muzyka
Animosity builds a stronghold in our lives when we stop forgiving and give ourselves over to ill will. Unfortunately animosity claims a right to revenge and can hurt the person, persons, or group it targets. Eventually it hurts and will even murder the host if left unchecked.
When animosity builds a stronghold it displays itself in action, inviting spite, gossip, hate, malice, bitterness and many other demons along with it to build strongholds in the host as well. The curses these demons bring can ruin the host and the object of its agenda.
Animosity is selfish and deceptive. It will hide itself very cleverly for years. It keeps seven abominations close by and one of these evils has its roots in manipulation. When it surfaces it will take its host and others by surprise. Because animosity is cloaked in deception it confuses the host as well as the objects of its agenda.
The resentment animosity carries can become very destructive. The only way to deal with this demonic stronghold is through love. Love may not necessarily heal the person harboring animosity because of the denial brought on by deception, but it can heal or protect the person or persons it targets.
Animosity against the Word of God and against God will never succeed.
5 Biblical tips to overcome animosity:
1. If you are the one harboring animosity, repent immediately. Ask God for forgiveness and to restore your peace and joy.
Hebrews 9:22 As Moses’ Teachings tell us, blood was used to cleanse almost everything, because if no blood is shed, no sins can be forgiven.
Acts 5:30-32 The God of our forefathers raised up Jesus, Whom you killed by hanging Him on a tree (cross). 31God exalted Him to His right hand to be Prince and Leader and Savior and Deliverer and Preserver, in order to grant repentance to Israel and to bestow forgiveness and release from sins. 32And we are witnesses of these things, and the Holy Spirit is also, Whom God has bestowed on those who obey Him.
2. Forgive anyone you hold anything against.
Luke 17:3 Pay attention and always be on your guard [looking out for one another]. If your brother sins (misses the mark), solemnly tell him so and reprove him, and if he repents (feels sorry for having sinned), forgive him.
Luke 17:4 And even if he sins against you seven times in a day, and turns to you seven times and says, I repent [I am sorry], you must forgive him (give up resentment and consider the offense as recalled and annulled).
Matthew 6:14 For if you forgive others their trespasses, your heavenly Father will also forgive you,
Matthew 6:15 but if you do not forgive others their trespasses, neither will your Father forgive your trespasses.
3. Ask others to forgive you as well. Even when we don’t feel as though we did anything wrong, animosity can enter into another person against us.
Matthew 5:22-24 But I say to you that everyone who continues to be angry with his brother or harbors malice (enmity of heart) against him shall be liable to and unable to escape the punishment imposed by the court; and whoever speaks contemptuously and insultingly to his brother shall be liable to and unable to escape the punishment imposed by the Sanhedrin, and whoever says, You cursed fool! [You empty-headed idiot!] shall be liable to and unable to escape the hell (Gehenna) of fire.
4. Never let the sun go down on anger.
Ephesians 4:26 When angry, do not sin; do not ever let your wrath (your exasperation, your fury or indignation) last until the sun goes down.
1 Thessalonians 5:22 Abstain from evil [shrink from it and keep aloof from it] in whatever form or whatever kind it may be.
5. Replace animosity with Love.
Proverbs 10:12 Hatred stirs up contentions, but love covers all transgressions.
Proverbs 17:9 He who covers and forgives an offense seeks love, but he who repeats or harps on a matter separates even close friends.
1 Peter 4:8 Above all things have intense and unfailing love for one another, for love covers a multitude of sins [forgives and disregards the offenses of others].
