Taking the Narrow Road

The wide road is easy to find.  The wide road is open to any and all fleshly desires.

The world is paved with a wide road, but God has paved a narrow road for us to walk.  But the decision of which road to take, wide or narrow, is up to us.  We must choose the narrow road, God will not choose it for us.  The wide road  appears to be easier, more comfy, more pleasurable, more popular, and is loaded with people.  The narrow road appears to be tougher, less comfy, less pleasurable and fun, and unpopular and less populated.  Things are not always what they seem though, and the wide road ends in destruction and mayhem and extreme sorrow.  The narrow road leads to a life of love, joy, strength, hope, truth, fun, and life becomes full and good.  This road is not perfect or without it’s trials, but even in the midst of the trials and tribulations, we can have joy, strength, hope, truth, fun and lots of love.

The wide road seems good for awhile, while the narrow road appears difficult at the first.   But, if we remain on the narrow road, God promises us that He is faithful and will not forget all that we endure on the narrow road.  Payday will come.  Whether we travel the wide road or narrow road, payday comes.  And it will come in this lifetime.  While we are on this earth.  God has set before us life and death and He encourages us to choose life.  Only on the narrow road is life.  God has told us that life and death are in the power of the tongue.  Therefore, we can be assured that the narrow road is a different language spoken, than is on the wide road.  There are no other roads but the wide road and the narrow road.  We cannot make our own road.  We travel the road we choose, but it is not the road we have created.

While on the narrow road, we become Godly influences to those who have chosen the wide road.  If we choose the wide road, we become worldly influences and we end up with nothing.  Make no mistake, we will either be the one who influences others or we will be the ones that are being influenced.

Psalm 16:11 You make the path of life known to me. Complete joy is in your presence. Pleasures are by your side forever.

Isaiah 35:8  A highway will be there, a roadway. It will be called the Holy Road. Sinners won’t travel on it. It will be for those who walk on it. Godless fools won’t wander [onto it].

Matthew 7:14  “Enter through the narrow gate because the gate and road that lead to destruction are wide. Many enter through the wide gate.”

“Engineering has done much to tunnel mountains, and bridge abysses; but the greatest triumph of engineering is that which made a way from sin to holiness, from death to life, from condemnation to perfection. Who could make a road over the mountains of our iniquities but Almighty God? None but the Lord of love would have wished it; none but the God of wisdom could have devised it; none but the God of power could have carried it out.” (Spurgeon)

I am blessed to have many engineers, Christian engineers, in my family tree! Several of them have already conveyed this quote by Spurgeon to me over the years. God is the Master Engineer to build a highway through the wilderness, over the mounatins, through the mountains, over the most raging rivers and stormiest seas, “making smooth the highway to our God.” Praise Be to God forever and ever, Amen!

Praise the Lord, He promises to walk and talk with us along life’s narrow way.
Hallelujah He gives the victory even in difficulties along the way.
He lives to bless our walk with Him from here to eternity.

Good to hear from you debradoo. Have a great weekend in the Lord.
