Who is Your Father?

Who is your Father? Not your earthly father; who is your spiritual father? Do you know and follow Christ, or is He just someone you have heard of? The answers to these questions are more important then you may think.

If you have confessed Jesus as Lord, and you follow Him in your life, then His Father is your Father and Christ is your brother. On the other hand…if you do not have Jesus at the center of your heart, and you have not given your life to Him, then your father is the devil…yes Satan.

Sound a little harsh? I think not, it is in fact reality.

The bible tells us that we have a father, either God the Father, or the devil.

John 8:42-43 42 Jesus said to them, “If God were your Father, you would love me, for I came from God and now am here. I have not come on my own; but he sent me. 43 Why is my language not clear to you? Because you are unable to hear what I say.

1 John 3:10 This is how we know who the children of God are and who the children of the devil are: Anyone who does not do what is right is not a child of God; nor is anyone who does not love his brother.

Also see John 8:37-41, John 8:44-47, Matthew 13:38, 2 Corinthians 6:14-15, Acts 13:10,     1 John 3:8

An even scarier reality than not having the Father, as our Father is the consequence that will follow because you do not know the Father. If God the Father is not your Father, then Jesus is not your Savior. Those that have the Son also have the Father (1 John 2:23). If you do not have the Son, then you do not posses eternal life. John 14:6 Jesus answered, “I am the way and the truth and the life. No one comes to the Father except through me.

I am not suggesting here that all who do not follow Jesus are in fact worshipping Satan, there are for certain those who do…but not all. However, that being said, if you don’t serve Jesus…then willingly or unwillingly…you are serving the devil. You cannot serve two masters; either you are a slave to sin, (Satan) or you are a slave to righteousness (Jesus). There is no in between, no sitting on the fence.

You are for God, or you are against Him. If you are against God, then your father is the devil, period. If you are against God…woe to you at the end of days; for you will be and you are even now considered to be God’s enemy;(Romans 5:10) (James 4:4) at the Judgement, God’s enemies will be thrown in the lake of fire, which is the second death (Revelation 20:14). The second death is complete and total separation from God…forever, no second chances…your entire lifetime was your chance to avoid this fate. Falling into the hands of the Living God is a fearful thing, no one else can destroy both body and soul but God (Matthew 10:28). The only expectation of those who turn away from God should be suffering, Hebrews 10:27 but only a fearful expectation of judgment and of raging fire that will consume the enemies of God.

Now for some good news, God has made a way for you to be rescued from the second death! Even though you are counted as His enemy, you can be saved from hell. If you confess Jesus as Lord, ask for forgiveness of sin, and repent; which is to turn from your old ways, (sin) you will be saved (Acts 16:31).

Those that do not know the Father nor the Son, do not by choice. The Gospel of Christ is everywhere; the evidence of God is spread over all creation.

Not choosing God is in fact choosing against God. A decision needs to be made for God in order to escape an eternity of unpleasantness; this decision needs to be made before death, after death it will be too late. God will show no mercy on those who ignored Him in this life when they stand before Him after death; after all…we were given ample opportunity to accept Jesus while here in this life. God is willing to forgive anything you have done, anything…and when you turn to Him in faith He will grant you the right to be His child. What more do you want?

Accept Jesus as Lord today, right now, avoid an eternity of suffering.

For those of you who know Christ and therefore have the Father…aren’t you overjoyed that the second death cannot touch you? That you are considered to be God’s child? That God loves you? That Jesus your Savior died for you because He loves you that much?

I answer an emphatic YES to those questions!

Another blog post anointed of the Lord from one who has evidently experienced the Father’s love.
Thank you writinggomer for sharing on our loving Father.

writinggomer, “…and you shall know them by their love.” As joint heirs with Christ, God is our Father. We are known as being members of the Family of God “by our love”. Amen.

Greg. A really studied post. It speaks to the whole idea of “freedom not to” and the matter of choice. We choose not to believe, it infers that we have studied the options and decided to abstain. It surely means that we are against something. God will not abide a neutral.

Thank you Milt. Yes one does need to make a decision on Christ. Even one who makes poor decisions still bases those choices on information from both sides of the issue.
      Thanks for reading.

  4. I thank the Lord for grace through Christ Jesus, thanks for sharing …. Darrell

The combination of a cup of coffee and a powerful post: Hello, my eyes are wide open this morning! God desires for everyone to spend eternity with Him. Yet, many by their own choosing, will go their own way as meetingintheclouds pointed out. Thanking God, I will not be singing the song made popular by Frank Sinatra, I Did it My Way.
    Keep the Faith!

  6. I had three earthly ‘fathers’ who abused me in various ways, making me a man hater. The idea of a ‘father’ God did nothing at all for me – until He sought me. Then I came to know Him as the PERFECT Father God who loved me so much that He adopted me into His own family, making me His beloved child. Since that day, almost 54 years ago, He has been my Father in every way imaginable, loving me, providing for me, encouraging me, challenging me, guiding me, enabling me . . . and so much more. Yes, I am overjoyed!

I find it quite odd that people who say they do not believe in God are most upset when told they are a child of the devil, which John 8:44 quotes quite definitely. They believe in the devil and not in God? Odd! But maybe not, since believing in God makes us accountable to Him, whereas believing in the devil allows one to go their own way.
