Our Lord and Savior, Christ Jesus, said He would return. His disciples waited anxiously. Finally, realizing that His return would not happen in their lifetimes, eyewitnesses wrote the Gospels so that we would have a record of Jesus’ life and promises.
The Apostle Paul wrote of his revelations. He established the universal church. Paul gave us such great insight into what is to come and how we are to live our lives as followers of Jesus.
During the two millennia since the time of Jesus people have waited. We have looked for signs of the Last Days. Throughout this period people have asked Why is He waiting? What’s taking so long?
We humans ask from our perspective. We are impatient. Some of us are prepared. Many are not.
What’s taking Him so long?
Let’s look at this question from God’s perspective.
Every person, EVERY person on earth, yesterday, today and those yet to come are God’s creation. Each is a child of God. Jesus wants all to come to come to Him.
Jesus gave us the Great Commission to spread the Good News, to take Him to all the nations.
So, God is asking: What’s taking THEM so long?
What will you do today to spread the Good News of Christ Jesus? God’s waiting.
Thank you Rabbi (my Pastor Michael) and my wife for giving me this different perspective.
Shalom,
Art
As much as it is God’s will that none shall be snatched away, it is the enemy’s goal to stop it We must be diligent, even now more than ever, to do God’s work and share the Good News of the Gospel. Excellent post. Thanks for the clear reminder.
After Satan tempted Jesus three times (unsuccessfully), he went away “waiting for a more opportune time.” Yes, we must be more diligent and united.
God giving us a chance to get ourselves together? Revelations 19? The bridegroom waiting for the bride to get ready? VW
A thousand years is as a day with The Lord. Soon it will be – why so early? – when it will be too late.
We poor mortals just can’t get our minds around the :timelessness” of God. But as someone said, he who waits for the 11th hour dies at 10:30> Only the Father knows the time.

He’s still waiting… What are we doing?
Art, you are so very correct. It is WE who are taking so long!
Pushing the blame…with pointer finger, not knowing that 3 fingers point back at ourselves. O no!
Thanks for the reminder Art… welcome back more relaxed…and for the inspired blogs we see. Keep on keeping on with good health and strength. Praise the Lord.
