Free from the Stronghold of Foolishness
Written by Christian author, Pola Muzyka.
When we attempt to discern spiritual matters with a worldly understanding we are inviting the spirit of foolishness to overtake our lives. If foolishness becomes a stronghold in us, it brings other strongholds such as idolatry, pride, false religion or no faith in God at all, selfishness, envy, depression, greed, futility, hopelessness, and much more.
Foolishness wastes time because time and life no longer have meaning. Foolishness is dangerous. It is a mocker of knowledge, wisdom, and righteousness. It can attempt to gain recognition by work that actually promotes evil intent.
A fool does not see clearly. Nor does he reason rightly. A fool says in his heart, “there is no God” so “let’s eat and drink, for tomorrow we will be dead“. There is no hope for the future when the stronghold of foolishness takes over. Doom and destruction eagerly await a fool.
1. Get true wisdom from above. It’s the principle thing.
Proverbs 4:7 The beginning of Wisdom is: get Wisdom (skillful and godly Wisdom)! [For skillful and godly Wisdom is the principal thing.] And with all you have gotten, get understanding (discernment, comprehension, and interpretation).
2. Follow wise companions. A companion of fools becomes like them.
Proverbs 14:24 The crown of the wise is their wealth of Wisdom, but the foolishness of [self-confident] fools is [nothing but] folly.
3. Choose insight and understanding. Fear God and live. Seek all you can learn about God and His ways, His will, His sacrifice for our sins, and His creation.
Proverbs 9:6 Leave off, simple ones [forsake the foolish and simpleminded] and live! And walk in the way of insight and understanding.
Proverbs 1:7 The reverent and worshipful fear of the Lord is the beginning and the principal and choice part of knowledge [its starting point and its essence]; but fools despise skillful and godly Wisdom, instruction, and discipline.
4. Keep scoffing, hatred, and slander far from your life. Do not allow these things to enter your thoughts.
Proverbs 1:22 How long, O simple ones [open to evil], will you love being simple? And the scoffers delight in scoffing and [self-confident] fools hate knowledge?
Proverbs 24:9 The plans of the foolish and the thought of foolishness are sin, and the scoffer is an abomination to men.
Proverbs 10:18 He who hides hatred is of lying lips, and he who utters slander is a [self-confident] fool.
5. Run to the stronghold of God which is found in Christ Jesus. Only with God is there fullness of life, eternal value, and hope.
Proverbs 18:10 The name of the Lord is a strong tower; the [consistently] righteous man [upright and in right standing with God] runs into it and is safe, high [above evil] and strong.
Romans 8:38-39 For I am persuaded beyond doubt (am sure) that neither death nor life, nor angels nor principalities, nor things impending and threatening nor things to come, nor powers,39Nor height nor depth, nor anything else in all creation will be able to separate us from the love of God which is in Christ Jesus our Lord.
Ephesians 1:20-21 Which He exerted in Christ when He raised Him from the dead and seated Him at His [own] right hand in the heavenly [places]. 21Far above all rule and authority and power and dominion and every name that is named [above every title that can be conferred], not only in this age and in this world, but also in the age and the world which are to come.
