GOD LOVES DRUNK PEOPLE TOO

A man and his wife were awakened at 3:00 am by a loud pounding on the door.
The man gets up and goes to the door where a drunken stranger, standing in the pouring rain, is asking for a push.

“Not a chance,” says the husband, “it is 3:00 in the morning!”

He slams the door and returns to bed.

“Who was that?” asked his wife.

“Just some drunk guy asking for a push,” he answers.

“Did you help him?” she asks.
“No, I did not, it is 3:00 in the morning and it is pouring rain out there!”
“Well, you have a short memory,” says his wife.
“Can’t you remember about three months ago when we broke down, and those two guys helped us?
I think you should help him, and you should be ashamed of yourself!
God loves drunk people too.

The man does as he is told, gets dressed, and goes out into the pounding rain.

He calls out into the dark, “Hello, are you still there?”

“Yes,” comes back the answer.

“Do you still need a push?” calls out the husband.

“Yes, please!” comes the reply from the dark.

“Where are you?” asks the husband.

“Over here on the swing set,” replied the drunk.

This is just great–reminding us that God has a wonderful sense of humour! He laughs with us right now, I am sure! Of course, I agree with Steven about the main point being our human weakness exemplified when we fail to help those when it is uncomfortable and/or inconvenient for us.

When I finally got this joke, I had a different takeaway. I don’t think the main point of this post focused on alcoholics. What I took away from this post was the husbands reluctance to help someone at 3 a.m. in the pouring down rain.

Yes, the Lord loves the person who needs help and love, but He does not condone the sin of drunkeness and He wants to deliver anyone who is a drunk from the bondage of drunkenness.

The Bible has warnings we should be mindful of
Ephesians 5:18 ESV And do not get drunk with wine, for that is debauchery, but be filled with the Spirit,

Galatians 5:21 ESV Envy, drunkenness, orgies, and things like these. I warn you, as I warned you before, that those who do such things will not inherit the kingdom of God.

Proverbs 20:1 ESV Wine is a mocker, strong drink a brawler, and whoever is led astray by it is not wise.

So if you are bound by drunkenness or alcoholism, do read the following blog for it will help you :
