It is just over 3 years since I first stumbled into a Christian blog site. I had no idea what to expect and certainly had no intention of becoming a blogger. Writing is an extremely difficult thing for me to do. In fact, I really dislike the physical process of writing. Interesting where God takes us. Often it is to places quite unexpected.
I ventured into the blog site as a result of a search for Christian websites. I had returned to my faith after decades of apostasy some eleven months earlier. I needed to grow, to firm my foundation, to strengthen my discipleship. Blogging has aided me in doing all of these things and so much more.
Online, I have established many contacts, built fellowships, made close friends with people from all corners of the globe.
I have learned so very much in so many different areas through the writings of others, things I could have experienced in no other way.
I have experienced shared joys, supported and most certainly been supported during down times.
And I have written. My ramblings have taken me into subjects and to depths I would never have explored otherwise. These meanderings have covered an extremely wide range of topics, from the joys of being a grandparent to studying the Book of Revelation in extreme depth.
It seems to me that writing on a site such as this is like casting seeds literally into the air. When the seed is cast I have no idea where it might land, if it will take root or what fruit it might yield. In most cases, the seed flies from my sight and I will never know what happens with it. I pray that some of it at least falls on the fertile soil, yielding bountiful fruit. If only one seed does so my efforts are successful.
Shortly after establishing ChristianBlessings, ptl2010 invited me to become a contributor here. It is both a great honor and a humbling experience to be counted among the fabulous, faith guided crew who make up the core of ChristianBlessings.
I want to thank my friends here, those of you I have come to know over the last two years. You encourage and support me in ways you will never know.
I thank my wife, without whose support, encouragement, occasion proof-reading, editing and patience I could not be active here. ( All errors, especially in spelling, that remain in my ramblings are entirely the responsibility of the writer!)
The congregation of my home church and especially my rabbi, Pastor Michael, have been a tremendous source of inspiration, encouragement and support. Thank you!
And a heartfelt thank you to all those who read my ramblings.
I am blessed, indeed.
Alive in The Word
A word of encouragement to my fellow bloggers and would-be bloggers:
As a writer, I possess no special talents. Writing is way down on the list of my favorite things to do. Yet, over the last 3 years, I’ve published over 750 blogs. When I first became serious about blogging, I’d hoped for maybe 2,000 views per year. I’m aware of at least 2.5 million total views on all continents. I know that my ramblings have been translated into at least 8 languages.
Jesus commanded us to “spread the Good News.” He’s directed me to do that by writing. My initial response was “Isn’t there another way for me on that list?” Seems that’s the one He’d chosen for me. So I listened.
The internet is both an interesting and challenging place. For those of us who write, it’s like casting seeds to the wind. We never know where they may land. but if we are Spirit guided, some will sprout and grow and produce great fruit.
