Do they know you in hell?

Do you cause satan to flee when you submit to Christ
and in His Name resist him?

. . . . . or does satan say . . . . .
“JESUS I know, and PAUL I know, but WHO ARE YOU?”

In Acts 19:13-20 we read of the sons of Sceva who tried to duplicate the miracles which were being performed by Paul in the Name of Jesus.  They tried to expel an evil spirit from a demoniac.  They used the right words, but they had no power. The demon did not obey, but cried out, “Jesus I know, and Paul I know, but who are you?”

I like FB Meyer’s amusing comment on this:
When the sons of Sceva started on the demon, he turned on them, and said, “You little dwarfs, you lilliputians, who are you? I know Paul! I don’t know you, I have never heard about you before; your name has never been talked about down in Hell. No one knows you, nor about you outside of this little bit of a place called Ephesus.”

Steve Camp’s song of about 30 years ago asked the questions
“What would the devil say about YOUR life?
Do they know you in hell like they know your Christ?”

So these are the questions I put to myself and all Christians

What is my reputation in hell?
Do I cause TROUBLE for satan?
Do I cause satan to TREMBLE when he sees me pray?
Do I cause agitation among the demons in hell when I witness for Christ?

Does anyone know us in hell?
Are they frightened of us (of the power of Christ in us)?
Do they know that when we command them
in the Name of Christ they are defeated?

Are they concerned when we pray, teach, preach and witness?

Or do they say
“We know Jesus.  We know Paul.  But who is that?
We don’t know YOU. Go ahead and do your work.
You won’t bother us or our work!”

About meetingintheclouds

I am Cloudwatcher, a 76 year old Christian lady, happily married to a wonderful man for over 50 years. We have five wonderful sons, all with at least one University degree and in top positions in their chosen fields. One son is still single but four have found perfect wives and they have given us five lovely grandchildren. I was born in England and while I'm proud of my English heritage, I am doubly proud to be a true-blue, fair-dinkum Aussie. My husband and I are committed Christians whose first priority is to love and serve our risen Saviour, the Lord Jesus Christ. My life story will tell of my journey from abuse to peace. I suffered 22 years of abuse, being constantly told I was totally evil and an ugly freak: no one would ever want me, so I might as well do the world a favour and kill myself.

Oh, to stir up consternation in Hell is such a confirmation that we are accomplishing something to build the Kingdom of God strong against the Devil’s assaults!

    • To picture the Lord’s approval as we walk in obedience to His will is a great encouragement, but it gives added to joy to picture the frustration and consternation of satan and his forces as they are defeated by the One who gives us the victory.

      What an amazing God!

  3. A HUGE welcome as a new contributor here…. and a very strong one indeed! I might add, one who is developing a very unwelcome reputation in hell as one of God’s warriors here on earth. 😉

    Shalom, Art

    • Thank you Art. I am honoured and humbled to be numbered with such stalwarts and look forward to sharing more of God’s Word and His will for our lives. My prayer is that all His people will be known in hell, causing demons to tremble and flee. What a difference that would make in this world today! Time is running short.
      We serve an amazing God!

      • We truly have an amazing crew of contributors here, don’t we. Different backgrounds, different perspectives, scattered to all corners of the earth. And EACH a true disciple!

We are a micro-piece to the Body of
christ, fulfilling both the Great Commandment and the Great Commission. Humbling and amazing!

        Shalom, Art

Thank you for this timely and important message. As followers of Christ we have been given authority over rulers of darkness, powers and principalities and the prince of the power of the air; but how many of us take that seriously? At the name of Jesus, demons tremble and they obey! We must become the force to be reckoned with that will cause demons in hell and in the heavenly realm to take note of us.

    • Thank you speaklife1
What an enormous privilege is ours! How amazing that the omnipotent Creator God would give such authority to us! How it must grieve Him when we ignore that gift and let the devil and his forces go about their business unhindered. I agree it is beyond time for us to awake and to be the force in this world that we are meant to be.
