Power to cease from sin is given to a believer in Christ through the new birth. I speak of power from above. Not human power in any respect. I speak of the same power that raised Christ from the dead.
The sinful heart of man is not only forgiven from all past sin…but made clean and holy by the Grace of God. John’ s Epistle states, “The blood of Christ cleanses man from all sin”…
The believer’s desire to do right is a God given desire that comes through the Holy Spirit’s presence in the heart and the life. This new desire allows the believer to “cease from sin completely”. This power from God is enough to assist the believer to “quit” or “stop” practicing sin. This God given desire (not the opinion of man) is greater that man’s human desire to do wrong. The Bible beautifully teaches, “Greater is Christ that is in you”…
Sin does not control a child of God. The child of God has power to cease from sin and to live a holy life. An unsaved man is powerless to sin. A saved man has power over sin…from the Holy Spirit. Glory! It’s called the power of Salvation! It’s not a denominational power or doctrine. It’s the power of Salvation that cleanses man from sin and unrighteousness. It’s the evidence that is Christ is alive.
Many do not hear teaching on this subject from behind our pulpits today. How sad. The life of victory with power to do right and power to live right in the eyes of God is such a blessing. It brings glory and honor to the Christ of our Salvation. It is the fruit of the Spirit’s witness in our hearts. Sin doesn’t live here anymore. Reason? God has given His children power to cease from sin.
The Bible teaches such truth. The Holy Spirit teaches such truth. Rick Roehm teaches such truth. I’d rather be hated for teaching the truth of God’s Word about holiness of heart than to be accepted by 10, 000 for compromising it and steering people into a life of defeat and sinful conduct in the name of Jesus. I have never used God’s Word to condone sin one single time in my life as a son of God. Don’t know any other way.
The wages of sin are death. When lust conceives it bringeth forth sin which in turn bringeth forth death. Sin is death and will Eternally separate man from God. I’m glad through acceptance of Christ God gives His children power to cease from sin.

Yes, blessed Brother Rick, the ONLY power to free us from Sin is that which comes from above, giving us the opportunity of choosing Christ and thereby gaining victory over sin.
Zechariah 4:6 So he said to me, “This is the word of the LORD to Zerubbabel: ‘Not by might nor by power, but by my Spirit,’ says the LORD Almighty.” This word to Zerubbabel applies to us today for it is the Spirit that enables and empowers us to live above sin. Praise the Lord He does not leave us alone. He is with and in us. Amen.
I like it. Preach on brother.
