Free from the Stronghold of Suicide
Written by Christian Author Pola Muzyka
Suicide walks on the heels of depression, despair, hopelessness, and rebellion. Other demonic strongholds can invite it in. If allowed in for long, it will be the final stronghold in the life of someone who does not trust God or who doesn’t know him in truth.
To know God is to love him and know that he loves every one of us. When we know God in truth – through his son Jesus Christ– we can walk through the fires of life with renewed hope and expectation. Knowing and trusting that God will deliver us or give us strength to endure.
This is not a fairy tale. It’s not a dream or fantasy in any way. The world and everything in it is subject to change. God never changes. We can be sure of his omnipotence and love. In his great love, God gave us free will and with that free will comes responsibility.
Without God we have no wisdom to brave the storms this life on earth tosses our way. In his infinite agape love for us [every sinner and evil doer] he is slow to anger, quick to forgive, and abounding in grace – unmerited favor.
When we put our hope and trust in the world we will be let down. Every one of us. But suicide does not have any control over us when we put our trust in God. Suicide gets its power from us. There is no benefit to suicide. There is no end to suffering in suicide. It is a demonic stronghold that murders, steals, and destroys. Nothing more.
When we resist and turn to God or turn back to God, he delivers us and eases our pain. Suicide must flee with our resistance.
5 Biblical tips to overcome suicide:
1. Don’t keep your pain to yourself. Pray. Pray alone or with someone who loves the Lord. God will hear and do something for you. We don’t see everything behind the scenes. It might not happen over night, but God will deliver you.
Psalm 34:17-20 When the righteous cry for help, the Lord hears and delivers them out of all their troubles. The Lord is near to the brokenhearted and saves the crushed in spirit. Many are the afflictions of the righteous, but the Lord delivers him out of them all. He keeps all his bones; not one of them is broken.
2. Accept Christ or restore your relationship with him.
1 Corinthians 1:30 God Himself made the way so you can have new life through Christ Jesus. God gave us Christ to be our wisdom. Christ made us right with God and set us apart for God and made us holy. Christ bought us with His blood and made us free from our sins.
3. Fight it. Take authority over it. Ask a Godly partner to help you with your fight. Do not give in to this stronghold or even allow the thoughts this demon is plaguing you with. Those thoughts are not from God.
2 Corinthians 10:5 [Inasmuch as we] refute arguments and theories and reasonings and every proud and lofty thing that sets itself up against the [true] knowledge of God; and we lead every thought and purpose away captive into the obedience of Christ (the Messiah, the Anointed One),
1 Timothy 6:12 Fight the good fight of the faith; lay hold of the eternal life to which you were summoned and [for which] you confessed the good confession [of faith] before many witnesses.
Ephesians 6:12 For we are not wrestling with flesh and blood [contending only with physical opponents], but against the despotisms, against the powers, against [the master spirits who are] the world rulers of this present darkness, against the spirit forces of wickedness in the heavenly (supernatural) sphere. 4. Put your trust in Christ and value your relationship with Christ. If you have received Christ, his Holy Spirit lives in you.
1 Corinthians 6:19-20 Don’t you realize that your body is the temple of the Holy Spirit, who lives in you and was given to you by God? You do not belong to yourself, 20 for God bought you with a high price. So you must honor God with your body.
1 Corinthians 3:16-17 Do you not know that you are God’s temple and that God’s Spirit dwells in you? If anyone destroys God’s temple, God will destroy him. For God’s temple is holy, and you are that temple.
Exodus 20:13 You shall not murder.
1 John 3:15 Everyone who hates his brother is a murderer, and you know that no murderer has eternal life abiding in him.
Matthew 12:31 Wherefore I say unto you, All manner of sin and blasphemy shall be forgiven unto men: but the blasphemy against the Holy Ghost shall not be forgiven unto men.
5. Keep your thoughts on good things. Help others wherever you can.
Ephesians 3:20 Now to Him Who, by (in consequence of) the [action of His] power that is at work within us, is able to [carry out His purpose and] do superabundantly, far over and above all that we [dare] ask or think [infinitely beyond our highest prayers, desires, thoughts, hopes, or dreams]–
Philippians 4:8 Finally, brethren, whatsoever things are true, whatsoever things are honest, whatsoever things are just, whatsoever things are pure, whatsoever things are lovely, whatsoever things are of good report; if there be any virtue, and if there be any praise, think on these things.
