Faith Child – Don’t just stay with the technical

Bank of Italy Governor Antonio Fazio, left, ta...

Faith Child we are not of this world, though we live here as long as we have breath. As we grow in discipleship with the Lord, we are often called to His service as lay people or anointed full-time servants dedicated for the Master’s use. Sometimes in the heat of His service when red-tape like contracts, precedents, man-made processes and things technical under the world systems stand in the way of godliness, compassion and grace and mercy, opt for the decision that rings true to Galatians 5:16-26

Galatians 5:16-26

[16] This I say then, Walk in the Spirit, and ye shall not fulfill the lust of the flesh.
[17] For the flesh lusteth against the Spirit, and the Spirit against the flesh: and these are contrary the one to the other: so that ye cannot do the things that ye would.
[18] But if ye be led of the Spirit, ye are not under the law.
[19] Now the works of the flesh are manifest, which are these; Adultery, fornication, uncleanness, lasciviousness,
[20] Idolatry, witchcraft, hatred, variance, emulations, wrath, strife, seditions, heresies,
[21] Envyings, murders, drunkenness, revellings, and such like: of the which I tell you before, as I have also told you in time past, that they which do such things shall not inherit the kingdom of God.
[22] But the fruit of the Spirit is love, joy, peace, longsuffering, gentleness, goodness, faith,
[23] Meekness, temperance: against such there is no law.
[24] And they that are Christ’s have crucified the flesh with the affections and lusts.
[25] If we live in the Spirit, let us also walk in the Spirit.
[26] Let us not be desirous of vain glory, provoking one another, envying one another.

I had a recent experience when after a meeting of believers, I was still unsettled and burdened, when the meeting voted in compliance with the technical terms of a contract which would have resulted in real discouragement and depression for the beneficiaries and others in the harvest field and it was I know unbecoming behaviour of God’s family. What could I do because I was in the company of very smart technically experienced people and good communicators who could win any argument and who love the Lord? When I left the meeting, I just committed the case to the Lord and said “Lord, please take over for we want to follow the Word but the enemy of our souls has distracted your people with the technical terms, and we have lost sight of the intent – we have focussed on the letter of the law rather than the spirit of the contract. You want us to live with the mind of Christ and the heart of compassion peppered by love. Please Lord undertake.” I now know I was there just to pray, as I could not convince to do what I was convicted was God’s direction.”

Upon reaching home, I received an SMS via my I-phone from one of the attendees at the meeting to advise me the Lord had intervened. Praise the Lord, the decision at the meeting had been reversed and the result was the rightful, compassionate decision! It did not bother me that I was not party to that good decision when it was made. Indeed praise the Lord. We all can sleep better with the peace of God in our minds and hearts for we know it was the right decision by the children of faith.

When we seek the Lord and not look at the men and women governing a situation, the giants, be sure the Lord can override the situation whatever man may say (even beyond a meeting discussion and consensus), and bring to pass the decision that is glorifying to the Lord and result in encouraging/uplifting rather than discouraging/depressing to the beneficiary or beneficiaries in the service of the Lord.

Yes, fellow children of God, each time you have to make an executive decision in the service of the Lord and the focus has been on only the technical solution, please defer to prayer when you know as promulgated in Galatians 5:16-26, you need to tread softly before the Lord and follow Him rather than man even if you are out-numbered, out-talked and out-voted. If your desire is right and according to God’s precepts, He will undertake and bring the right solutions if you call on Him.

Why do we get wrong decisions made by spiritual men and women of God? It is because we may have become acquainted with too much of worldly experience, knowledge and technicalities and lost sight of the mind of Christ and heart of compassion of God, to let the Holy Spirit lead in wisdom and discernment. Often because of wrong timing i.e. moving ahead of the time of the Lord in man’s wisdom, people have got into trouble too – and the result was not glorifying to God.

We must never under-estimate the value of prayer and intercession. We must not as a committee that decides on matters relating to God’s work, proceed without praying together, our actions must be consistent with the mind of Christ revealed, as it will prevail and overrule the hearts of men and women with our egos, biases, hidden agendas and self interest, negative past experiences (because we tend to forget the positive experiences in the heat of the day when the going gets tough in barren and it seems arid circumstances, like a desert.)

Be encouraged if you are in a “bad” situation in the service of the Lord. He knows the way through the barren land. He wants you to wait, call and rise up and walk. When you wait,You will rise with wings like the eagles. When you call, you will see things you have never seen by the Hand of God, and walk in faith to fulfil the Lord’s will for any matter if you let Him lead in any decision in His service, for it is His work and He is in control and interested in the best outcome. He can bring the best outcome to fruition if in those instances of doubt, frustration, weakness, giants in the way, we turn to Him and say “Thy Will be done on earth as it is in heaven” and “lead us not into temptation for Thine is the kingdom, and the power and the glory forever, Amen.” Then learn to be still and know that He is God in the midst of you to do of His good purpose and pleasure.

He says to any discouraged one “Trust in the Lord with all your heart and lean not to your own understanding, in all your ways acknowledge Him and He shall direct thy paths.” Amen and I have witnessed and experienced it again and again. Be not too fast on the draw of glib talk, not walking too fast, but pacing with the Lord to accomplish His plan – that means you seek, pray, call, hear, listen, follow and do what He lays upon your heart and with circumstances that He changes in response to your commitment of the case to Him. He never fails and His promises are ever true. Then we will see the light and the truth of His Word. He comes with healing in His wings to heal rifts and to unify His people once again.

He wants us to serve Him with gladness and joy. Let us do so and don’t just stay with the technical but add the salt of the fruit of the Spirit which spices/embellishes every outcome that will please Him, His people and prosper the witness wherever we have been placed for such a time as this. Let us be followers of the Lord as His dear children and let the Spirit lead us into all things – the abundant life for His people and His church. Glory to the Name of the Lord. Let God arise in the midst of His family, His people, His Church!

What a blessing it is to see the Lord intervene and bring about that which is right! An encouraging post, that is for sure! Lord bless.

Praise the Lord, I have been reminded again that in His work , one with God can be majority according to His will. Thank you Pastor Rob indeed the Lord’s will be done.

How parallel is this to to my last post regarding a sale of a friends business. It is incredible how we may settle for less than the full measure of God’s grace. When he says abundantly he means it.

  2. Our gracious God chooses to work in response to the prayers of His children. He called you to pray and you were faithful to His calling. He acted and the right decision was made. This sounded like a major thing, which could have had bad results.

I am unlikely to be involved in such a way as you were, but we all face the same type of thing on a smaller scale, where something we do, or something we agree to, or something we know about, has (or will have) an effect on others. Our response – as was yours – should be to commit the thing to the Lord.

Thanks for the reminder that we have that responsibility.

May the Lord always help us not panic in the work of the Lord and learn to be still before Him when the going gets tough. He overrides in the best way with the best outcome in His time.Praise the Lord….and it applies to Anything else in our lives for if we remember Job, our part is to remember to remain faithful to His Word- Has He said and will He not do it? Thanks meetingintheclouds for reminding for local application. The battle belongs to the Lord and His plans are good and will prevail. Praise the Lord.
