Do you know the Real Christ?

File:Paris cimetière Montparnasse760.JPG

Do you know the real Christ; I mean really know Him? I know all about Jesus, don’t you?

I have Him all figured out and there is nothing left to learn.

Wonderful, now that I have your attention…what I know about Christ would not fill a thimble, not even the space a dust mite would take up in that thimble. Six dust mites by the way would fit on the end of a pin.

Lets look at what Jesus is not, and what He does not do.

  1. Jesus is not The Way; to get everything you want
  2. Jesus is not The Truth; as you want it to be
  3. Jesus is not The Life; that you may live any way you choose
  4. Jesus did not die so that you don’t have to, you need to die to yourself
  5. Jesus did not promise a trial free life
  6. Jesus did not promise to give you everything you ask for
  7. Jesus is not a lottery ticket
  8. Jesus is not a vending machine
  9. Jesus does not exist to fulfill your every whim
  10. Jesus is not a great teacher, He is God
  11. Jesus does not want you to suffer, you bring that on yourself
  12. Jesus did not die for you so that you can continue in sin
  13. Jesus did not work miracles to make you feel better, He was demonstrating His absolute mastery over all things
  14. Jesus did not create Creation for you, it was created for Him
  15. Jesus did not create you for you, He created you to glorify Himself and the Father
  16. Jesus did not become a man because He had to, He did so because He obeyed His Father, and out of love for us
  17. Jesus was never killed, He died willingly, you can’t kill God
  18. Jesus did not lie, not ever, not once.
  19. Jesus never once has forsaken us, we have forsaken Him at one time or another
  20. Jesus was not only God, but rather God and man, the perfect blending of two natures into One being…Jesus Christ the Lord

Now that you know who Jesus is not, how about a little about whom He is and what He did do?

  1. Jesus is the Son of God
  2. Jesus is God the Son
  3. Jesus died to pay for our sins
  4. Jesus is The Way, The Truth, and The Life
  5. Jesus is our mediator with the Father.
  6. Jesus is the perfect God/man
  7. Jesus was and is without sin
  8. Jesus fulfilled the law to perfection
  9. Jesus is eternal and was not “created” when He came to earth
  10. Jesus is the ONLY way to the Father
  11. Jesus is our righteousness
  12. Jesus is in the Father, as He is in us
  13. Jesus is the Lord, all will bow to Him now in reverence, or later because they will not have a choice
  14. Jesus was the greatest servant to ever walk the earth
  15. Jesus fills all needs
  16. Jesus gives to each one as they need
  17. Jesus is the light of the world, reflected through those who serve Him
  18. Jesus is our Savior, King, Master, Brother by adoption, and our Friend
  19. Jesus is love, as God is love…Jesus is God after all
  20. Jesus is; The Bright Morning Star, Prophet, King of kings, Lord of lords, The Good Shepherd, Chief Cornerstone, Image of the Invisible God, Light of the World, Immanuel, Lamb of God, Rock, Faithful and True Witness, The Great I AM, The Branch, Holy One, The Almighty.

To know Him is to love Him. Do you know Him? Does He know you, or are you just a face in the crowd?

I hope and pray you know the real Jesus, the One of the bible. If you don’t know Jesus all that well, take some time today and please get to know Him, you won’t be sorry. Spend time in The Word (the bible), read devotionals, and worship.

Your life is precious to Christ, but He won’t come where you will not invite Him. Commit or recommit yourself to Him today.

Marvelous lists, Greg! Praise His Name… Jesus is who He is! Praise His Name… He can be known, personally! Praise His Name… He desires to know, and be known! Indeed, “I count everything as loss because of the surpassing worth of knowing Christ Jesus my Lord. For his sake I have suffered the loss of all things and count them as rubbish, in order that I may gain Christ” Phl 3:8

Paul would conclude only one thing is worth striving for…. ‘That I may know Him!’ v.10 Thanks, good friend and God bless.

  4. Great list of what Jesus is NOT and of what He IS.

It has taken millions of books to try to explain about Jesus and many of them have done an excellent job, but the truth is that even if it were possible to know ALL ABOUT Him, unless we actually KNOW Him, all would be loss. The natural (unsaved) person CANNOT understand spiritual things. The natural person has no option but to follow the course of the world, maybe knowing things ABOUT Jesus, but not knowing Him.

O the blessed day (for me 8th June 1958) when our spiritual eyes were opened and we see Christ as the bearer of our sins, taking the punishment for our sins and gaining us reconciliation with the living God!

Then we begin to KNOW Jesus – and that is a lifelong journey. Nearly 54 years later I am still getting to know Him and He is still changing me, moulding me into His own likeness. One day soon I shall be like Him (1 John 3:2) and I shall truly KNOW Him.

    What an amazing Saviour!
    What an amazing God!

    Man, that was good preaching.
We had a dog, yeah I know, everybody did, but I would grab that dog by the sides of it’s head, shake it around and say, “go find me a rabbit.” That dog would get all pumped up. That is what you have done with this.

He is more than He is not! Praise the Lord, those who know Him know it is true.
    He is all we need.

  7. Great reminder about Who Jesus is and what He is not!

As a student of history, I know a lot about many people such as Abe Lincoln or Augustus Caesar. Jesus is the only person from history that I can ever know up close and personally.
