“And as thy days, so shall thy strength be” Deuteronomy 33:25
I am not one who goes to the gym but I have observed those who go to the gym to gain physical strength.
Who do we go to strengthen our soul? Only to God.
Ask Him to reveal your areas of strength and weaknesses.
Praise Him for any areas of strengths that may come naturally. Ask for insight how to use your strengths in a way that will cause others to praise him instead of you.
Identifying your weaknesses is a first step in creating a personal workout program to strengthen your character as well as your soul. It will take time and repeated exercise focussed on specific areas. Choose one specific area and an exercise that will turn your flabby muscles into taut strengthened ones.
- Do you tremble when your faith is tested? Find a verse which assures you that God is your Protector. Memorise the verse and remember that verse when you feel the butterflies in your tummy.
- Are you too quick on the draw with your tongue? When irritated, think wisely before speaking rashly, take your time.
It’s practice, patience and perseverance to flex taut muscles of the soul.
If you need some help, find a workout buddy with whom you may share workout plans, get feedback and encouragement when you feel like throwing in the towel. Choose a close Christian buddy mentor you can trust, respect and be accountable to spiritually. Then bare your weaknesses and be prepared to accept feedback and criticism for improvement. With your mentor, by prayer and humility, plan your workout program based on the Word of God and work on your weaknesses. No doubt there will be praise for improvements and strengths gained.
Faith Child, the Lord has promised you help – as the day, so shall thy strength be. Help yourself and do not give up in despair whatever your weakness. Persevere with prayer and you will be strengthened in your soul to His glory.

Ahh… that sin that so easily besets us! We all have them and we can be honest with our God. He knows anyway doesn’t He? We must learn to overcome the pride that says I’m perfect and realize we are all a work in progress. Matter of fact, it is a joyful thing to watch God deliver us from these areas where we struggle. Struggle we may, but as your words convey, our Lord is stronger! He will make us look more and more like Jesus every day! Great words friend…
Oh Yes, I remember this old Sunday School chorus
Jesus is a wonderful Saviour
He will carry you through
Jesus is a wonderful Saviour
He will carry you through
And when the battle is done
And the victory is won
My Lord will carry you through
O my precious brother
When the world is on fire
You’ll need my Jesus
To be your Saviour
He’ll hide you ever
In the Rock of Ages
In the Rock Ages
Just cleft for you.
Each time we are tempted by satan and we submit to God and resist the devil, we experience the victory gained for us by Christ and we are strengthened. As the old song says: “Each victory will help you some other to win”
What an amazing God!
Praise God we are more than congquerors in Christ Jesus.
Thanks for your encouragement meetingintheclouds. God bless you.
