Free from the Stronghold of Worry

Free from the Stronghold of Worry
Written by Christian author Pola Muzyka

The Bible says that the wicked never worry. The rest of us struggle with this stronghold every time we face adversity. Worry seems to be a natural part of life. But why? And why are wicked people worry free?

Psalm 7317Only when I came into God’s holy place did I finally understand what would happen to them [the wicked]. Just when it looks like the wicked have everything under control in their lives – it’s too late. They trust money, they trust themselves, and they don’t rely on, or even believe in, God.

But what about the rest of us? We worry about things, about our health, about the health of those we love, about our children, about our homes, about our lives, and much more. Worry is another way for the enemy to fool us into separating from God and from our blessings. It’s a stronghold that is unavoidable. But God is in control. If we have already asked God, our worries should be over.

If we continue to worry, we may not be trusting God with our problem area.

Biblical help to live a worry free life:

1. Pray in the name of Jesus. Jesus told us that if we pray in his name he will do whatever we ask because it will bring God glory. What does it mean to pray in Jesus’ name. It means praying with His authority and asking God the Father to act on our prayers because we come in the name of His Son, Jesus.

Philippians 4:19 (GW) 19My God will richly fill your every need in a glorious way through Christ Jesus.

2. Trust God to answer your prayer. Get to know what his word says about what you’re going through. His promises are true.

2 Samuel 22:31 (GW) 31God’s way is perfect! The promise of the Lord has proven to be true. He is a shield to all those who take refuge in him.

3. Trust God in every situation in your life so that the stronghold of worry won’t steal your joy.

Romans 8:28 28We know that all things work together for the good of those who love God—those whom he has called according to his plan.

4. Keep yourself free from adversity. Don’t deliberately go into areas where you know God doesn’t want you to go.

Galations 5:16-17 6Let me explain further. Live your life as your spiritual nature directs you. Then you will never follow through on what your corrupt nature wants. 17What your corrupt nature wants is contrary to what your spiritual nature wants, and what your spiritual nature wants is contrary to what your corrupt nature wants. They are opposed to each other. As a result, you don’t always do what you intend to do.

5. Keep God in mind always. In all that you do, do it as if you were doing it for God.

1 Corinthians 1:9 (GW) 9God faithfully keeps his promises. He called you to be partners with his Son Jesus Christ our Lord.

  1. Worry is a completely useless activity. It gets us nowhere (except maybe into hospital). It clouds our minds and makes us unable to think rationally. Most importantly, it robs God. By worrying, we are denying Him the privilege of undertaking for us through our act of trusting Him.

We serve an amazing God who delights to undertake for us.
