Fallen man

Fallen man is the entire human family upon the face of the Earth both Jew and Gentile. All humanity descended from Adam. Then came the flood appointed by God to destroy fallen man of his wickedness. Gen. 6…The exceptions from the waters of God’s Judgment were Noah and his family…who were also fallen men themselves but obedient and subject to God Almighty by faith.

After the flood children (from their youth) were born fallen likewise. Gen. 9…All humanity on the face of the Earth descended from Noah’s family and his three sons but were still born in  a fallen state of being.

Fallen man’s natural state tainted Cain enough to slay his brother Abel. Fallen man was born and always has been born with an inclination to sin and rebel against God. The natural rebellious nature of man of fallen man makes him a criminal in the eyes of God.  Why? Fallen man has no power to do right as the Bible describes this state to be one, “without strength”. Righteousness must be God-given as a result of faith in God.

Today fallen man is still helpless without Christ. Fallen man is still hopeless without Christ. Some fallen men even desire to do right. But… because of their natural state of being without Christ they can’t help but to “fall short of the glory” of the God-given blessing of Salvation and Redemption of the human soul. Why? Their human inclination seems right in their own eyes. They leave God and Christ out of the equation. They fall short of the glory of God…they miss the mark…they are sinners by nature, even children of wrath…as described in the Bible. Eph. 2…

Fallen man is a doer on his own. Fallen man can have much religious intelligence. Fallen man’s imagination can conjure human ideals, human philosophies, and human religions that are appealing to others. Fallen man is still tainted with sin and disobedient enough to be considered criminal in the eyes of God.

No matter what fallen man tries to achieve by good works he is still outside of God’s Divine favor. He is destitute, God-less, and criminal in the eyes of God. The only thing that can pardon fallen man from being a criminal in the eyes of God is belief and trust in the redemptive work of Christ for personal forgiveness. The tainted will of man must be broken by God. Forgiveness must be found and experienced through believing what Christ did your you personally. Forgiveness is God’s way of removing guilt from the human conscience of fallen man. God’s Justice must take place in the heart. God must declare pardon to fallen man. God must deem fallen man, innocent. The sinner must know God forgave and pardoned …as spoken to the human soul. A new life founded in the new nature is created by God’s Grace.

The former criminal has new desires and power to do right. The former criminal is ashamed of his former criminal activity (sin). He realizes the root of sin or the fallen nature was the reason why he was a rebel against God. Now, he is a new man, innocent, and pardoned from all past sins and past sinful conduct. Why? Christ came in and created a new makeup and character. Fallen man has been declared innocent by God Almighty! God spoke redemption and innocence. Rom. 3:24, 25…Revealed! Made known! Testified to the heart by the Spirit of God. Fallen man is morally changed by the Grace of God!

Blessed be the God of Salvation that gives fallen man a clean heart, a new nature, and a better life. No more sinful conduct! No more wrongdoing! No longer criminal in the eyes of God! Walking in the Spirit, not in the flesh. No desire to disobey God. Victory in Jesus! Glory! Not missing the mark! Not falling short! God’s glory in the eyes of God. Doing things pleasing in His sight. Proving what is acceptable to Him! Holding fast with no desire to go back to being a criminal again. Delivered by Christ! He’s alive! I’m forgiven because I trusted in Him! Not myself! Fallen men must be delivered and made new by Christ who is God given power for fallen men to quit sin. This transformation brings in the holy heart and the holy conduct because of Christ.

This is God’s Mercy and love for fallen man. This is the power of God’s Grace for fallen man. This is the God-given restoration forwhat Adam lost in the Garden. Christ was promised. Christ came down. Christ now makes fallen men who believe in Him…obedient to God because they are new creatures. Without natural rebellion subject to the law of God in the Spirit. Glory! Fallen men have a way out through Christ! He’s alive and I’m glad. Glory!

  1. “Fallen man” and the total inability of mankind to do anything to redeem their position is not spoken of as much as it should be. The grace and mercy of God through Christ cannot be appreciated without the knowledge of man’s helplessness and hopelessness . . . guilty, condemned, without excuse, without hope. Praise God for the “BUT GOD . . .” of Ephesians 2:4.

    What an amazing God!

I appreciate your description of fallen mankind’s inability to gain salvation of their own merit. This is the key to begin to understand God’s gracious intervention in the salvation of His poeple.

It’s always a blessing to hear from you Brother Rob.

Without “fallen man’s” contrast to the magnitude of Christ as Savior and Redeemer…there are no needs for the lost world’s redemption. The original sin was mentioned in almost every book of the Bible. Reason? To help men recognize human depravity and mans “need” for God’s Divine favor found in Christ… for Salvation and Redemption of the human soul.
