Writers are supposed to avoid superlatives, reserving them for special occasions which merit their use, but when Bible writers spoke of the blessings of God, they used the strongest of terms.

Ephesians 3:19  God’s love “passes knowledge”
2 Corinthians 9:15  His gift of salvation is “unspeakable”
John 10:10  The life He gives is “more abundant”
2 Corinthians 9:11 We are “enriched in everything” in “all bountifulness”
2 Corinthians 9:8  We have “all sufficiency” in all things

While these are amazing,
we have to find the superlative of Ephesians 3:20 the most of amazing of all.

Firstly, let us first look at the preceding verse which says we can be
“filled with all the fullness of God”
(or as the Amplified renders it)
“wholly filled and flooded with God Himself”
(Isn’t that amazing?)

Then in Ephesians 4:13 we are assured we will come,
in the unity of the faith, and of the knowledge of the Son of God,
“unto a perfect man,
unto the measure of the stature of the fullness of Christ”

(or as the Amplified renders it)
“nothing less than the standard height of Christ’s own perfection”
(Isn’t that amazing?)

After thinking on those amazing verses,
let us go back to Ephesians 3:20 where we see
“He is able to do
all we ask or think”

“Exceedingly abundantly ABOVE”???
What could possibly be “ABOVE” being “filled with all the fullness of God”

or being made perfectly Christlike?

What could possibly be “EXCEEDINGLY ABUNDANTLY ABOVE” that?

What an amazing God!
What an amazing salvation!
What an amazingly abundant life He gives!

The question begs:
If we live such an amazingly abundant life,
why don’t we have more of an impact on the lives of those around us?

If Christians praised God more, the world would doubt Him less.
If Christians lived as we should, the world would see Him more.

Thine, O Lord, is the greatness, and the power,
and the glory, and the victory, and the majesty;
for all that is in heaven is Thine.
Thine is the kingdom, O Lord, and Thou art exalted as Head over all.
1 Chronicles 29:11

About meetingintheclouds

I am Cloudwatcher, a 76 year old Christian lady, happily married to a wonderful man for over 50 years. We have five wonderful sons, all with at least one University degree and in top positions in their chosen fields. One son is still single but four have found perfect wives and they have given us five lovely grandchildren. I was born in England and while I'm proud of my English heritage, I am doubly proud to be a true-blue, fair-dinkum Aussie. My husband and I are committed Christians whose first priority is to love and serve our risen Saviour, the Lord Jesus Christ. My life story will tell of my journey from abuse to peace. I suffered 22 years of abuse, being constantly told I was totally evil and an ugly freak: no one would ever want me, so I might as well do the world a favour and kill myself.

God’s blessings are the at the pinacle of our life experiences on earth. No wonder the Bible writers consistantly used them in their descriptions of God’s gracious acts to mankind. Lord bless.

    • How can we ever speak of our amazing God without using superlatives? He is far, far, far, far above all that words can express.

How can we ever speak of the blessings we receive from our amazing God without using superlatives? They far, far, far, far exceed definition, but we rejoice in the REALITY of them!

      What a truly amazing God!

Superlatives cannot be over-used as God is referenced. He is indeed “exceedingly”.

  5. ptl2010 says:

He has bestowed His best, have we done our best for Jesus?

    • He certainly has bestowed His best, and continues to do so, super-abundantly.
Have we done our best? I doubt it. I believe there is always more we can do, more we can give, more we can be. Lord, help us to truly reflect You!

it stirs the heart , the Spirit of the Most High God in us !!!

    • It is incomprehensible – yet true – that the omnipotent, perfect, creator triune God, could (would WANT to) live in His created beings! Yet we experience the REALITY and we praise Him.
      What an amazing God!
