Christ Has Set You Free!

As Christians, we know that true freedom can only be found in Jesus Christ! Jesus has set us free from the bondages of sin and death. Our sins have been washed away forever by the blood of Jesus, and we have been given the hope of heaven and eternal life! No longer are we lost, confused, tormented, imprisoned by our human nature, and awaiting certain death and punishment in hell. By the grace and mercy of God we can live life abundantly with love, joy, peace and hope. Our lives have been given meaning and purpose, and we are more loved and valuable to our Lord and Savior than we can even begin to imagine. Below are some scriptures to help us reflect upon our liberty. Take a moment today and thank God for all that He has done for you!

“In my anguish I cried to the LORD, and He answered by setting me free.” Psalm 118:5

“Many are saying of me, ‘God will not deliver him.’ But you are a shield around me, O LORD…From the LORD comes deliverance.” Psalm 3:2-3, 8

“It is for freedom that Christ has set us free. Stand firm, then, and do not let yourselves be burdened again by a yoke of slavery.” Galatians 5:1

“But thanks be to God that, though you used to be slaves to sin, you wholeheartedly obeyed the form of teaching to which you were entrusted. You have been set free from sin and have become slaves to righteousness.” Romans 6:17-18

“And you will know the truth, and the truth will set you free.” John 8:32

“So if the Son sets you free, you will be free indeed.” John 8:36

“There is therefore now no condemnation for those who are in Christ Jesus. For the law of the Spirit of life has set you free in Christ Jesus from the law of sin and death. For God has done what the law, weakened by the flesh, could not do. By sending his own Son in the likeness of sinful flesh and for sin, he condemned sin in the flesh, in order that the righteous requirement of the law might be fulfilled in us, who walk not according to the flesh but according to the Spirit.” Romans 8:1-4

“For He will deliver the needy who cry out, the afflicted who have no one to help. He will take pity on the weak and the needy and save the needy from death. He will rescue them from oppression and violence, for precious is their blood in His sight.” Psalm 72:12-14

“For God so loved the world that he gave his one and only Son, that whoever believesin him shall not perish but have eternal life. For God did not send his Son into the world to condemn the world, but to save the world through him. Whoever believes in him is not condemned, but whoever does not believe stands condemned already because they have not believed in the name of God’s one and only Son.” John 3:16-18

“Since the children have flesh and blood, he too shared in their humanity so that by his death he might break the power of him who holds the power of death—that is, the devil— and free those who all their lives were held in slavery by their fear of death.” Hebrews 2:14-15

“If you confess with your mouth that Jesus is Lord and believe in your heart that God raised him from the dead, you will be saved.” Romans 10:9

“‘Because He loves me,’ says the LORD, ‘I will rescue him; I will protect him, for He acknowledges my name. He will call upon me, and I will answer him; I will be with him in trouble, I will deliver him and honor him.’” Psalm 91:14-15

“For this reason Christ is the mediator of a new covenant, that those who are called may receive the promised eternal inheritance– now that He has died as a ransom to set them free…” Hebrews 9:15

“The Spirit of the Lord is on me, because he has anointed me to proclaim good news to the poor. He has sent me to proclaim freedom for the prisoners and recovery of sight for the blind, to set the oppressed free, to proclaim the year of the Lord’s favor.” Luke 4:18-19

“Now the Lord is the Spirit, and where the Spirit of the Lord is, there is freedom.” 2 Corinthians 3:17

“But now that you have been set free from sin and have become slaves of God, the fruit you get leads to sanctification and its end, eternal life.” Romans 6:22

“Grace and peace to you from God our Father and the Lord Jesus Christ, who gave himself for our sins to rescue us from the present evil age, according to the will of our God and Father, to whom be glory for ever and ever. Amen.” Galatians 1:3-5

“In almost everything that touches our everyday life on earth, God is pleased when we’re pleased. He wills that we be as free as birds to soar and sing our maker’s praise without anxiety.” –A.W. Tozer

Jesus read “The Spirit of the Lord is upon me, because he hath anointed me to preach the gospel to the poor;he hath sent me to heal the brokenhearted,to preach deliverance to the captives, and recovering of sight to the blind,to set at liberty them that are bruised,to preach the acceptable year of the Lord.” Isaiah 61: 1-2a

Jesus said “He whom the Son sets free is free indeed!” John 8:36

Amen. There are many who have been converted from other religions and pagan idolatry, with the prejudices, traditions, taboos, even superstitiouns, whom Christ has set free from the past. They have found the liberty to not be afraid of past hauntings , of abstinences to food and even from the practice of “touch wood”, the curse of the number “4” or “13” and even fears of fengshui. They have found there are more positive “can do’s” e.g. praying, singing, having a merry heart in service to the Lord, praising and thanksgiving, loving and helping others, that bring them closer to God and others, than “cannot do’s” e.g. taking drugs, lust, pornography, indulging in inordinate feasting and alcoholism, which draw them away from God,. They have found that if they fill their days with worthwhile “can do’s” there is no time left for the “cannot do’s” . Praise the Lord.
