Faith Child – Why hast thou forsaken me?

God, our Father, on the rainbow Why hast thou forsaken me?

Perhaps you are asking this of another today – a spouse who just left you in a divorce, in death, in just being unfaithful. Or is it being asked of a very dear friend, child or sibling?  Or you have been terminated from a position in an organization or church, or even a school where you feel an injustice has been done. Now you are puzzled, in anguish, it is not making sense to you and you feel hopeless. How will you carry on?

Jesus asked that question so many years ago when He hung on that cross to take on the sins of the whole world and His righteous Father forsook Jesus because our sins separated Him from His Father – He accepted being forsaken for us, yes for us – you and me. There was a great cause for His being forsaken and Jesus accepted it for it was in the will of the Father. For a moment He felt the anguish of separation and when He submitted to the Father’s will He emerged triumphant from the grave and today lives to intercede for us on the right hand of the Father in heaven.

It was a painful experience for Jesus – and He acknowledged it in His agony.  You too can acknowledge that you are broken-hearted and the Father in heaven hears. Seemingly there is silence and He is withdrawn.. and you feel that way too as Jesus felt.

Jesus submitted to the will of the Father – you too can submit to the will of the Father, even with deafening silence from Him. You know that it is for your good that you have been forsaken. The reason may not be clear to you today, although Jesus being God knew God’s plan, yet even knowing He availed Himself for the Father’s use. Will you accept to be the vessel the Lord is honoring by choosing you to go through this trial? Does it seem offensive to you? Why not somebody else? It can’t be someone else because you are special and He has a plan just for you. Only you can fulfil this plan.

Jesus was separated from the Father momentarily. You will be feeling He has forsaken you for a while. It will be for a while and after the night will come the morning light. Just as that Easter morning, when Jesus rose from the grave triumphant over death and hell. Yes you will rise triumphant too from this seeming hellish experience and you will rise to newness of life to live for Him from this experience, to be blessed and a blessing.

Jesus rose with great hope of reconciliation for many with the Father and He lives today as a symbol of Trust and Obedience. When trust and obedience is restored in a believer’s life after a trial of forsakenness, that hope is stronger in the Lord who has been your salvation. When trust and obedience is restored in your life, you will never walk alone again.

Praise God the Bride of Christ is His reward from being forsaken by the Father. You are to be a part of the Bride of Christ as a reward for continuing  trust and obedience to the Father .

Jesus Comforted His Disciples and He comforts you who feel forsaken today

John 14

Do not let your hearts be troubled. You believe in God[a]; believe also in me. My Father’s house has many rooms; if that were not so, would I have told you that I am going there to prepare a place for you? And if I go and prepare a place for you, I will come back and take you to be with me that you also may be where I am. You know the way to the place where I am going.”

Jesus Promises the Holy Spirit

1“If you love me, keep my commands. 16 And I will ask the Father, and he will give you another advocate to help you and be with you forever— 17 the Spirit of truth. The world cannot accept him, because it neither sees him nor knows him. But you know him, for he lives with you and will be[c] in you. 18 I will not leave you as orphans; I will come to you. 19 Before long, the world will not see me anymore, but you will see me. Because I live, you also will live. 20 On that day you will realize that I am in my Father, and you are in me, and I am in you. 21 Whoever has my commands and keeps them is the one who loves me. The one who loves me will be loved by my Father, and I too will love them and show myself to them.”

28 “You heard me say, ‘I am going away and I am coming back to you.’ If you loved me, you would be glad that I am going to the Father, for the Father is greater than I. 29 I have told you now before it happens, so that when it does happen you will believe. 30 I will not say much more to you, for the prince of this world is coming. He has no hold over me, 31 but he comes so that the world may learn that I love the Father and do exactly what my Father has commanded me.”

2Jesus replied, “Anyone who loves me will obey my teaching. My Father will love them, and we will come to them and make our home with them. 24 Anyone who does not love me will not obey my teaching. These words you hear are not my own; they belong to the Father who sent me.

25 “All this I have spoken while still with you. 26 But the Advocate, the Holy Spirit, whom the Father will send in my name, will teach you all things and will remind you of everything I have said to you. 27 Peace I leave with you; my peace I give you. I do not give to you as the world gives. Do not let your hearts be troubled and do not be afraid.”

Faith Child Jesus  is speaking personally to you today.  Won’t you hear Him? He speaks peace and comfort to your worn out heart and emotions. He wants to restore that love you now feel you have lost. He wants to renew your strength and once again fill your life with hope .. yes His Holy Spirit is being sent to you today. Feel His Presence and let Him minister to your broken heart. Cast your cares upon Him for He cares for you .. then finally remember, He has prepared a room for you that where He is you may be also. Praise Him and let His Presence fill you and your life once again. Live for Him in trust and obedience. He comes with healing in His wings. You have not been forsaken by the Most High. He loves you today.  Amen.

Let the Lord have His way
In your life every day
There’s no rest, there’s no peace
Until the Lord has His way
Place your life in His hands
Rest secure in His plans
Let the Lord, let the Lord have His way.

  1. Regardless of the circumstances, regardless of who may forsake us, we KNOW that our Father God loves us with an everlasting love. We KNOW that the triune God will comfort us, encourage us, supply our needs and undertake for us.

    What an amazing God!

  2. Rob Barkman says:

We all have faced rejection and the pain of being forsaken. It is not pleasant but sometimes, in our service to Christ. these things WILL take place. There is great comfort in knowing that if the Lord has saved us, He will not reject us. He is the friend that sticketh closer than a brother. Much needed posting. Thanks.
