Free to be Grateful — Chase Pain Away

Gratitude resists the stronghold of ungratefulness, ingratitude, doubt,  thanklessness and many other demonic strongholds. It chases disease, depression and other illnesses away immediately. When was the last time you were grateful? Were you also in pain?

If you were in pain, wasn’t it lessened by thankfulness? Gratitude releases endorphins in our body. A release of endorphins lowers our pain, boosts our immune system, and increases our feeling of well being, which in turn aids in healing.

In the same way, gratitude heals our spiritual life. We are no longer at enmity with God but embrace God and the power he gives us through Jesus Christ.

What a mistake doctors make when they give the negative side of ill health. God has called us to be encouragers of each other — exalters of the good news of salvation. There is always hope. Miracles do happen. In fact, we recognize God’s people by their love. This includes gratitude.

6 Biblical tips to overcome ingratitude:

1. Get alone with God and sing praises to him — anything. Make some type of a joyful noise. Thank him for his goodness, his greatness, and his sacrifices for us.

Psalm 95:2 Let us come before His presence with thanksgiving; let us make a joyful noise to Him with songs of praise!

Hebrews 13:15 Through Jesus we should always bring God a sacrifice of praise, that is, words that acknowledge him.

2. Be grateful so that your healing is complete. Because of the gratitude that one of ten lepers had toward Jesus [after he cleansed them all] Jesus completely healed that one — that is complete healing in every area of his life or his body. Luke 17:12-17

Luke 17:18-19 Was there no one found to return and to recognize and give thanks and praise to God except this alien? 19And he said to him, Arise, go your way: your faith has made you whole.

3. Be grateful to God for others. Has someone done something nice for you? Notice. Be thankful and thank God for them as well.

Philippians 1:3-4 I thank my God in all my remembrance of you. 4In every prayer of mine I always make my entreaty and petition for you all with joy (delight).

3. Get interested in what God has to say. Read His Word! If you’re reading the Bible and you don’t see the good news, ask God to lead you.

Matthew 11:5 Blind people see again, lame people are walking, those with skin diseases are made clean, deaf people hear again, dead people are brought back to life, and poor people hear the Good News.

4. Refuse to dwell on the problems. Give them over to God. Concentrate on what is true, good, lovely — of good report.

Philippians 4:4-8 Always be joyful in the Lord! I’ll say it again: Be joyful! 5Let everyone know how considerate you are. The Lord is near. 6Never worry about anything. But in every situation let God know what you need in prayers and requests while giving thanks. 7Then God’s peace, which goes beyond anything we can imagine, will guard your thoughts and emotions through Christ Jesus.  8Finally, brothers and sisters, keep your thoughts on whatever is right or deserves praise: things that are true, honorable, fair, pure, acceptable, or commendable.

5. Pray for others. You’re not alone. No matter what you’re going through there is someone else worse off. Spread the word. They need to learn gratitude, too.

1 Timothy 2:1-4 First of all, I encourage you to make petitions, prayers, intercessions, and prayers of thanks for all people, 2for rulers, and for everyone who has authority over us. Pray for these people so that we can have a quiet and peaceful life always lived in a godly and reverent way. 3This is good and pleases God our Savior. 4He wants all people to be saved and to learn the truth.

6. Don’t spread negative thoughts.

Ephesians 4:29 Let no foul or polluting language, nor evil word nor unwholesome or worthless talk [ever] come out of your mouth, but only such [speech] as is good and beneficial to the spiritual progress of others, as is fitting to the need and the occasion, that it may be a blessing and give grace (God’s favor) to those who hear it.
