Free to Stop Hating God

Free to Stop Hating God

What can we learn from God’s love for us? It is so incomprehensible that our love for him pales in comparison. So why is it difficult to give whatever small amount of love we have back to Him?

We look for reasons that discredit God. Some of us totally ignore God, particularly when there is sin in our lives. We try to explain God away with useless, vain, and ignorant arguments.

The stronghold of murder [abortion–a stronghold of honor killing or selfishness] is a good example. Adultery, homosexuality, unforgiveness, and gossip are others.

The strongholds that keep us from loving God, and keep us from fully receiving his blessings are numerous–as are the demons that follow Satan.

We pray for a miracle and then when it doesn’t happen, we blame God. We say ‘it is not his timing’ or ‘it is not his will’. Some say that miracles are just coincidences. They say, ‘God isn’t real’ or [worse] ‘God is dead’.

Suffering and sickness exist because of sin. Not because God wants them to exist. His desire is to bless us. His love for us is absolute and complete.

Biblical tips to stop hating God:

1. Trust the promises of [in] Jesus Christ. He said he will never leave us or forsake us. There is coming a day of recompense.

2 Thessalonians 1:7-9 It is also right for God to give all of us relief from our suffering. He will do this when the Lord Jesus is revealed, coming from heaven with his mighty angels in a blazing fire. 8He will take revenge on those who refuse to acknowledge God and on those who refuse to respond to the Good News about our Lord Jesus. 9They will pay the penalty by being destroyed forever, by being separated from the Lord’s presence and from his glorious power.

2. Let God be God. When we try to be God to others, we take His place and assume His emotions are equal to ours. If God [His Holy Spirit] is in us, He is still not us. That takes the pressure off and frees us to love him.

Psalm 46:10 “Be still, and know that I am God! I will be honored by every nation.  I will be honored throughout the world.”

3. Thank God and praise him for the things he has done and will do in your life. When we concentrate on the good things, our being is filled with gratitude [and love].

Psalm 70:4 May all those who seek, inquire of and for You, and require You [as their vital need] rejoice and be glad in You; and may those who love Your salvation say continually, Let God be magnified!

4. Expect God to bless you no matter what your life is like now.

5. Receive Christ if you haven’t done so already. If you have, rededicate yourself. The overwhelming reality of his goodness to you will strengthen your love for Him.

Awesome post; but then again, we serve and awesome God!

Ptl, I posted this on another site because, once again, just about everything I’ve read today flows together…God is good, and the Holy spirit moves! I sure hope you don’t mind me posting the same comment here. I copied and pasted it for you..it’s a somewhat long comment, but well worth the read, and blends with what you are saying here… I hope you agree that it fits! You had mentioned strongholds, and so, yes, of course, it reminded me of this previous comment:

When we think about war, let us remember pain, suffering, wounds, separation from life as we know it, separation from friends and family (in this sense, as we go to our prayer closet focusing solely on God; the good thing with spiritual warfare is that oftentimes your friends/family can go to battle with you, but there needs to be that alone time as well!), etc. Yes, warfare is never, ever a joyous time. However, Jesus already won the battle for us, so what we’re dealing with is an attack from the enemy to steal from us what is already ours.

Let us never allow our enemy to deceive us into believing that we don’t already have the victory and that we’re fighting to get something in the first place; we already have won through Christ Jesus! What we’re fighting is his interaction, his deception, and his attacks to steal what belongs to us. When Joshua took the people to go to war against the enemy, it was already their land because God gave it to them before they ever even made it out of the wilderness.

First, they had to be free from bondage. Have you accepted Jesus into your heart as Lord and Savior of your life? Secondly, if you’re saved, are you still wandering around in the wilderness, because you can’t get to where you are going if you’re wandering around complaining, worshiping other gods in your life, fornicating spiritually against God and committing adultery against Him as well. If you’re not having faith in the God who goes before you as a pillar of fire at night, and a cloud during the day to guide you, and you’re not allowing Him to lead you in your life, then you’re going to keep getting lost on your way and getting sidetracked.

Now that you’ve made it out of the wildnerness and you’ve crossed over the Jordan, know that you’re in a foreign land. You’re in a land that you own, but its got some nasty corrupt species living in it that you have to get rid of. It’s not going to be easy, but you’ve truly taken Jesus into your heart as Savior, you’ve repented before Him and have stopped wandering around in the land of desolation and depravity by trusting Him to guide you and putting to death all your past idolatry, Now it is time to possess the land that God has given you. The Lord is with you, you are His child. Now you must gird up your loins and get ready for battle, becaue the enemy is going to try to stay in that land you’re going to possess. He’s going to do everything he can to fight you…so you must trust in the invisible army God has given you against the many hosts of wickedness.

So what’s next? Get the enemy out of your land so that you claim victory! There will be suffering, there will be pain, and their will be losss along the way of things that you enjoyed. Just like the Israelites, we are not to take any of the enemies things…we are to destroy all of it…we can’t have their food, we can’t have their people, we can’t have their offspring, we can’t have their garments, their jewelry, nothing!*(see note below) As you move in for the battle, make sure you get rid of the enemy one hundred percent. Oftentimes this involves the sacrifice of things you used to enjoy, but that aren’t fully acceptable now that you are a child of the King. Also, it involves the sacrifice of praise…rejoicing when you don’t feel like it.

Start claiming what God has already given you today! Fight the good fight, be brave, be courageous, and be strong in the Lord and in the power of His might! Put on the whole armour of God; don’t wait any longer. The enemy is stealing what belongs to you! Get him out of your promised land!

Note: *yes, I’m aware in certain cases they could take some things..but God told them when they could do this because whatever they were allowed to take had its purpose. An example of this spiritually would be that maybe God would have a person take with them to the pulpit or to other people in whom they are witnessing something horrible about their past, whereas others He might have them just put the past totally to death and never bring it up again. This is why it is important that we know the voice of the Holy Spirit in our hearts, and stay close enough that we can hear Him.*
