Freedom to Endure Tribulation

Escaping tribulation is impossible. Enduring tribulation is not. We have a promise of freedom and that promise breaks all strongholds over us including the stronghold of the fear of tribulation.

The Sun Will Be Darkened

Wars and rumors of wars will take place. What we are experiencing in the world today is just the beginning. There will also be famines and earthquakes as never before. The Lord has guaranteed that trouble will come, not just for those who don’t receive him, but for everyone.

However, for the believer in Christ who stands firm tribulation will never become a stronghold. God is our stronghold. The name of the Lord is our strong tower. There is no other name under heaven by which mankind can be saved.

Tribulation in the life of a believer is like the mortar that holds a brick together. Once afflicted we soon realize our need for God and become stronger in our reliance on him. When we humble ourselves and seek his face, He never lets us down.

In our haste to earn a living, climb the ladder of success, perfect our lives, raise our children to be the leaders we want them to be, we can’t neglect our dependence on Jesus Christ. Apart from Christ all our busyness will fade and be empty. What we do for the Lord and in Him will last.

5 Biblical tips to endure tribulation:

1. Evangelize.  Assuming you have received Christ, he has removed your sins. Help other sinners receive the good news, too.

Matthew 9:13 Go and learn what this means: I desire mercy [that is, readiness to help those in trouble] and not sacrifice and sacrificial victims. For I came not to call and invite [to repentance] the righteous (those who are upright and in right standing with God), but sinners (the erring ones and all those not free from sin).

2. Keep focused on God’s words and his way of doing things. Do not allow the enemy to steal his words from your life.

Matthew 13:20-22 The seed planted on rocky ground is the person who hears the word and accepts it at once with joy. 21Since he doesn’t have any root, he lasts only a little while. When suffering or persecution [tribulation] comes along because of the word, he immediately falls from faith. 22The seed planted among thornbushes is another person who hears the word. But the worries of life and the deceitful pleasures of riches choke the word so that it can’t produce anything. 23But the seed planted on good ground is the person who hears and understands the word. This type produces crops. They produce one hundred, sixty, or thirty times as much as was planted.”

3. Pray and praise the Lord. Our help comes from Him.

2 Corinthians 8:2 For in the midst of an ordeal of severe tribulation, their abundance of joy and their depth of poverty [together] have overflowed in wealth of lavish generosity on their part.

Romans 12:12 Rejoice and exult in hope; be steadfast and patient in suffering and tribulation; be constant in prayer.

4. Refrain from returning to your old life of sin. It’s the Lord who drew you to him, not the other way around. Now it’s time to draw close to the Lord.

Romans 2:9 [And] there will be tribulation and anguish and calamity and constraint for every soul of man who [habitually] does evil, the Jew first and also the Greek (Gentile).

5. Rest assured that Jesus Christ has and will deliver you Isaiah 54– he has overcome the world.

John 16:33 I have told you these things, so that in Me you may have [perfect] peace and confidence. In the world you have tribulation and trials and distress and frustration; but be of good cheer [take courage; be confident, certain, undaunted]! For I have overcome the world. [I have deprived it of power to harm you and have conquered it for you.]

Jeremiah 50:20 In those days and at that time, says the Lord, the iniquity of Israel will be sought, but there will be none, and the sins of Judah [will be sought], but none will be found, for I will pardon those whom I cause to remain as a remnant (the preserved ones who come forth after a long tribulation).
