Answer: Getting ate by the spider.
When I think about the web and the spider I think about the world and why the Bible says to, “Love not the world”. If you love the world too much it will cause you to be consumed by the spider. Then what?
How does the world effect your Salvation? Jesus said His coming would be like in the days of Noah. People were simply eating, drinking, and being merry. No sin in eating. No sin in drinking (not strong drink). No sin in being merry…but these simple pleasures in the world caused people to drift away in the days of Noah. The same goes for today. Then what?
The world can cause people to be conformed to its deceit. The world is subtle and deceptive. The world is like a web that traps the spider’s prey. Then comes the spider. Then what?
A believing heart conscious to the presence of Christ will steer clear from the web of the world. The lust of the eyes, the lust of the flesh, and the pride of life can find no root. The web of the world is off at a distance. Only the child of God can steer clear from the web of the world.
Jesus left us the comforter (the Holy Spirit) to steer us away from the world. Christians are not prey to the web or to the spider because of our trust in a Savior. Christians are persuaded to trust Christ and Him alone for every need in life. Christ keeps His Brothers and Sisters from becoming “prey” to the entanglements of the world and to the spider.
Save yourself some grief. Focus on what it is written,
1 John 2:14-17…I have written unto you, young men, because ye are strong, and the word of God abideth in you, and ye have overcome the wicked one. Love not the world, neither the things that are in the world. If any man love the world, the love of the Father is not in him. For all that is in the world, the lust of the flesh, and the lust of the eyes, and the pride of life, is not of the Father, but is of the world. And the world passeth away, and the lust thereof: but he that doeth the will of God abideth for ever.
The Apostle John said, “You have overcome the wicked one”. Keep yourself out of the web of the world and you won’t have to worry about getting ate by the spider. Christian’s are “overcomers”. No web. No spider.
“Come out from among them and be separate and touch not the unclean thing” is a message we don’t hear enough of these days. Our enemies are the world, the flesh and the devil and if we aren’t aware of the lure and dangers of the first, it will affect the second and the third will have victory.
The web of the world is increasing in its lure and stickiness and the devil is doing his camouflage work in trying to convince all that it is good. The lure of the world is powerful.
Praise God, HIS power is greater by far and is freely available to all His adopted, blood-bought children. His power, exercised in us and through us, is victorious and we are more than conquerors through Him. When we submit to Him the web and the spider are defeated.
What an amazing God!
Be separate and we would not even be attracted to be near the web. Praise the Lord he is more attractive than the spider! Thanks Pastor Rick for this reminder on an important subject.
