The subject of inherited sin is taught in almost every book of the Bible. It is recorded for the edification of those who study. It is a topic shown through God’s Word to illustrate the contrast between fallen man and the power of God our Savior. Without understanding of sin (and its root) there is no human need for a Savior and Redeemer. The acts of sin are dreadful in the eyes of God, but the root of sin is far worse. Many various religious entities from around the globe (besides Christianity) term inherited sin as the “evil inclination”.
The purpose of God in Christ as Savior and Redeemer was to rid man of sin. Sin (twofold) would always include both sinful conduct and the inherited sinful nature. This twofold meaning of sin must never be overlooked or taken lightly. For this purpose the Son of God was manifested that He might destroy the “works of the Devil”. The works of the Devil caused Adam to fall by disobeying God. This “original sin” caused humanity to be tainted or polluted with inherited sin from birth. These facts should never be taken lightly by the student of God’s Word. By overlooking the inherited nature of sin, man will naturally focus on the act of sin and place more emphasis on the act of sin, than the sinful nature itself.
There is a reason why I place so much emphasis on inherited sin. Reason? Inherited sin cannot be confessed by you or forgiven by God. Only the acts of sin can be confessed by you and forgiven by God. Inherited sin is a part of man that must be dealt with by the power of God only. Indwelling Sin must be removed by the Spirit of a living God as God cannot forgive you for something you inherited from the sin of Adam. Only the sanctifying power of a resurrected Christ can rid man of such adverse condition. I stress the power of a resurrected Christ because through the Ages from Creation until the death of Christ, man had to struggle with inherited sin. There was no provision of deliverance from inherited sin under the Old Testament. To the contrary a greater blessing and a better covenant of Grace “now” gives us the power of a resurrected Christ. Christ and the power of His resurrection can rid man from inherited sin. Romans chapter 8 proves such doctrine as victory over sin is mentioned but never in relation to man’s confession or forgiveness from God.
In previous chapters of Romans (chapters 1-7) Justification is the topic of God’s Grace and forgiveness and remission of sins is the topic of fallen man. In the 8th chapter of Romans Sanctification of a Justified man is the topic and being rid of inherited sin is the topic of a Justified man. Paul speaks of being made free from the Law of sin and death. Being made free makes no reference to man’s confession or forgiveness from God. Deliverance is the focus and deliverance from “inherited sin” illustrates the power of a resurrected and living Christ that rids man from inherited sin. Romans 8: 4 states the righteousness of the law is fulfilled “in” us. Fulfilled in us is an operation that takes place after a justified man is “freed” from something that once controlled him. Complete deliverance from Indwelling Sin is the focal point. To Christ be the glory.
Freedom and liberation from Indwelling sin in the total man is the subject. Not just confession from man and forgiveness from God pertaining the acts of sin. Complete deliverance from inherited sin is the object. Complete deliverance from inherited sin is where man’s total being is owned, ruled, and controlled by a living Christ in the Throneroom. No longer a defeated life where the New Man battles against the Old Man…but a victorious life where the New Man is completely ruled by a resurrected Christ and the Old Man is crucified and put to death. It’s called “complete liberty in the Spirit”. It’s called being sanctified by Christ and living a sanctified life under the power of God’s Grace. A child of God today is no longer under Law but under Grace! Grace is far greater than Law because Christ is involved with the power of God’s Grace. Grace rids man of sin, both the acts of sin and the inherited sinful nature. Glory to Chris, the one who can deliver man from sin, completely!
For 25 years this writer has been blessed writing about victory over inherited sin by testifying to the power of a resurrected Christ. I am thankful today, these teachings now go around the globe for the cause of Christ. God knows who and where this kind of teaching is needed. The power and person of Jesus Christ has always been the central theme of these writings. In order to magnify a supreme Christ it has always been necessary to illustrate the contrast between inherited sin and the supremacy of Christ, Savior and Redeemer of the world. Glory to the name of Christ! He’s alive! He’s exalted! He controls everything in life! He rids man of sin! Glory!

When you say inherited sin, are you referring to family spirits? One in the same? Because we can break the curse of family spirits. Such as, oftentimes people have alcoholism run in the family…or spirits of lust and sex….the yoke of these can be broken in a family by a person strong in the Lord who sees what is going on, receives Christ, and breaks the bondage. I thought to ask. I was confused on this aspect. As for the article, great article! And thank you for posting!
Lyn,
The above document was not particularly addressing the family curse type sin but the individual moral depravity that people are born with. The focus? “A corrupt will and nature that causes people to reject Christ”.
Inherited sin is the moral depravity that every human being is born with. Simply put, “It is the sin nature that all men are born with”. All men are “under” sin’s dominion which makes them a servant to sin. It is the natural rebellious state of man that every human being is cursed with, since the Fall of Adam. David said, “In sin his mother conceived him”. A baby goes astray from the womb speaking lies. There is none righteous, no not one. The poison of asps is under their tongue.” Inherited sin is the reason why men live darkness more than they love light. Natural rejectors of truth. Enemies to God Almighty. Without hope. By nature men are children of wrath. Why? Inherited sin.
Hope this helps.
Yes, thank you. I was just confused! God bless you.
