Psalm 7:6 : Arise, Lord, in your anger; rise up against the rage of my enemies. Awake, my God; decree justice.
Response :
Lord teach me how and in what sense divine anger may become the hope of the righteous and that fire fought by fire, or man’s anger overcome by God’s anger.
I cannot pray too often, and when my heart is true, I shall turn to God in prayer. I need the strength to forgive, turnover to You all my thirst for revenge and anger, and know that You are justice, You are my avenger and You want me to love the souls that do wrong to me for them You died.
Arise, O Lord, in Your anger. Faith would move You to avenge the quarrel of Your saints.
Lift up Your self from Your authority and throne, because of the rage of mine enemies, Stand up, O God, rise above them all, and let Your justice tower above their villanies.
Awake me to the judgment that You have commanded. You never slumber, yet You often seem to do so; for the wicked prevail, and the saints are trodden in the dust. God Your silence is the patience of longsuffering, and if wearisome to the saints, I should bear it cheerfully in the hope that sinners may thereby be led to repentance. In the end I ask for nothing but what is according to Your appointment and may I observe this rule in all my prayers; I should in everything conform my requests to Your divine will, as John also instructs us. 1 John 4:14 . And, indeed, I can never pray in faith unless I attend, in the first place, to what God commands, that my mind may not rashly and at random start aside in desiring more than I am permitted to desire and pray for. David, in order to pray aright, reposes himself on the word and promise of God and the import of his exercise is this: Lord, I am not led by ambition, or foolish headstrong passion, or depraved desire, inconsiderately to ask from thee whatever is pleasing to my flesh; but it is the clear light of thy word which directs me, and upon it I securely depend. Keep me Lord from being headstrong in passion and depraved revenge and ask according to Your will in everything in peace or war against the enemy. Keep my feet from straying and wantonness and harness my will, help me focus on doing Thy will for Thine is the Kingdom and the power and the glory forever. Amen.
Amen!
