It is a daily choice to follow Jesus rather than follow the world. You cannot have both because they pull you in different directions. To compromise may seem the most balanced, however that is not Scriptural and if you follow Jesus you cannot have two masters – “No one can serve two masters. Either he will hate the one and love the other, or he will be devoted to the one and despise the other. You cannot serve both God and Money.” Matthew 6:24
Follow the words of the song as Jim Reeves sings to us in I’drRather have Jesus:
The song-writer Rhea F. Miller, 1922 summarised the choices we have to face when we decide between the two: God or Money
I’d rather have Jesus than silver or gold
I’d rather be His than have riches untold;
I’d rather have Jesus than houses or lands;
I’d rather be led by His nail-pierced hand
Refrain: Than to be the king of a vast domain
And be held in sin’s dread sway;
I’d rather have Jesus than anything
This world affords today.
I’d rather have Jesus than men’s applause;
I’d rather be faithful to His dear cause;
I’d rather have Jesus than worldwide fame;
I’d rather be true to His holy name.
He’s fairer than lilies of rarest bloom;
He’s sweeter than honey from out the comb;
He’s all that my hungering spirit needs;
I’d rather have Jesus and let Him lead
When you choose Jesus, you know this world is not your home, and you probably will feel uncomfortable in it.
Listen as Jim Reeves reminds us of it. The things of this world are temporary and we must have an eternal perspective as we live in the light of God’s Word. We are not looking for worldly treasure but heavenly treasure. Jesus, our Friend will lead us if we choose Him. So remember when you are feeling not at home in this world, you will feel at home in heaven.

Let us choose to live consistently following Jesus. Let us then ask Him to Have Thine Own Way, Lord, because that is the only way, we will stay true to our faith in Him, we cannot do it alone.
He will guide you through life’s battles, He will give you power
He will answer when you call Him and shine His light upon
you in life’s darkest hour
And go with you all the way. He will…
I’d rather have Jesus, This world affords. How about you?
.
PASS THIS ON!
I’d rather have Jesus than anything!
That about sums it up.
Life was not worth living before I knew Jesus.
Now, after 54 years of knowing, loving and serving Him, I can say wholeheartedly, “I’d rather have Jesus than anything!”
What an amazing Saviour!
